#Big Brother

ImageMy son asked me if I thought I could make the “cut” in the Big Brother house. I laughed and said the politics and the lying and betrayal in the house makes me tired. Then I stopped and realized that being born and raised in the home of a preacher is like, exactly like, living in the Big Brother house only it wasn’t for a three month period, it has lasted for a life time! They are trying to be the last man out and win half a million dollars and people are willing to lie, cheat and knife in the back the very people with whom they have made their true alliances. If you are a church member or have ever attended services with a “body of believers” you can recognize different people that you know within those walls. Yes they are younger and have different names but the personalities are the same. I think of them coming out after their stay and not knowing who has been talking about them and telling their secrets to then see the recorded evidence that it all happened. I guess they have to decide that it is “just a game” and people will do anything for money and know they probably did the same to the others. The difference is when you are the one doing it; it just doesn’t seem quite as bad or vicious as when you see others doing it. I have actually watched it this season and seen two girls who are physically very gorgeous but because of their attitudes and willingness to make fun of the others and especially using racial slurs against two of the other houseguests to the point of throwing their bedding on the floor and then mocking the young lady coming in and trying to put her bed back together have made themselves very unattractive in my eyes and in the eyes of a lot of other people who are watching! Then they wonder how they are being “portrayed” to the public. They aren’t being portrayed at all; they are portraying themselves as the wicked, mean girls they really are. There are cameras 24/7 and everyone sees everything, yes everything that those people do! So I was considering how I would feel about that. I would be afraid to go to the bathroom, or take a shower or even afraid that I would kick my covers off and expose my posterior. To have every emotion exposed and, as I already said, know that people are actually telling lies that you won’t know about until after the show is over. Well upon thought about this I realize that WE DO live in a Big Brother house ourselves! The Bible tells us in the book of Hebrews chapter 12:1-2 “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”  If you read the end of chapter 11 you see why the writer said this…he said that even though they had endured even becoming martyrs…yet they could not be made perfect without US!

So, don’t you think they are keeping a close eye on what we are doing? I think of my father’s Armenian relatives that suffered because they loved Jesus and would not give Him up for Mohammad, they loved not their lives unto death! Psalm 34:15 “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry”!!  Think about that! God sees everything we do! Sometimes I find myself praying and telling Him things as if He doesn’t know them already…He DOES…know them already that is…

So next time you get a bad attitude or want to do something that is evil, really ganky or just plain mean…think about the fact the God sees us and there is always the “cloud of witnesses” and one of these days our whole life will go before us on that big old heavenly screen and we will see those things exposed that we thought hidden…all the things that we never covered with the Blood of Jesus that is…SO…always act as if you have an audience and the things that you are ashamed of…just call on the name of Jesus and ask Him to cover all your sin in His precious Blood…then you won’t have to dread watching the DVD of  “The Harolene Show”…of course you should have inserted your own name here!  Know that God is always with us!

  1. Thank you so much for the many reminders in this post. Truthfully, never thought about asking Jesus to cover all my sins. Never heard of it before. I just love it when I hear new things. Thank you. Have a really good day and I hope the Lord will bless your tomorrow. Love Margaret.
