Faithfulness, What’s That?

IMG_1831Forgiveness and faithfulness are two words that have gotten lost in the world of unfaithful friends and lovers. There are those of us who are willing to give our love and devotion and then find that we have put our trust in the wrong place.

Jeremiah 17:5 This is what the LORD says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD. Maybe you don’t trust God because you don’t KNOW that you can lean on the Lord for help, or know that the only way we can truly forgive is to learn from the One Who forgave US!

Unforgiveness and hatred in your heart and mind, is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to get sick, or die. Chances are they don’t know how you feel, and if they do, they simply do not care! So why burden yourself with hating or not forgiving them, it means they are actually controlling your life! There is only One who completely, continually, forgives, and that is God Almighty.

I made a quality decision recently which is this, I need to be free of worry and upset, I have tried to be a “fixer” for my whole life, a peace-maker and somehow I would end up feeling like I hadn’t done enough, or blaming myself if it didn’t work out… no more, I am handing all my problems whether it is a financial problem, a physical problem or people who might be upset with me for whatever reason over to God, I simply don’t care any more and that’s the truth. If God is for me who in the world can be against me?

My parents celebrated 70 years of happy marriage last New Year’s Eve, which is an accomplishment considering that in today’s world when a movie star says they have been married 5 years, everyone applauds and cheers for such a long-lived marriage. I have watched more than one star hiding from the paparazzi in their multi-thousand dollar dress at their multi-million dollar wedding, only to see them getting a divorce a few months (weeks even) later.

It seems like things such as loyalty to vows and people, whether romantic connections or just friends, don’t count any more. GOD is faithful, you can’t get so old that he is looking for someone YOUNGER to convert, or too ugly or fat or better yet, He doesn’t get bored with you! He joined Himself to us. In the wedding ceremony, the minister says “What do you give as a token of your love and fidelity”, the normal answer is “A ring”, which symbolizes the never-ending circle of love. God did not give a ring; He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ as the covenant offering, His promise of love and fidelity toward His Bride. I used to say that when you get married you have to “quit dating other people”; looks to me like too many Christians give their heart to the Lord and then flirt with the devil on a daily basis. They put their feet under Satan’s table and dine with him and then expect God to “understand”. We shouldn’t do it in the flesh and we can’t do it in the Spirit.

Lamentations 3:22 (the Message) God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over). He’s all I’ve got left.

These beautiful words from the Bible remind me of one of my favorite hymns: Great Is Thy Faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be. Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see. All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

We are taking this journey together, so come on, get on board and let’s see where the road takes us as we are blessed, forgive, and remain faithful to the Lord and each to other, He is faithful to you!

  1. I don’t know why I couldn’t get all the script to look the same tonight! Just over look it please! 🙂

  2. Amen! Love that hymn as well! I just loved this as I do all of your writing and thoughts! Forgiveness is a very hard thing to do for some people but you must do it no matter how hard it may be whether you are wrong or the right. God will be the one in the end to decide your fate!
I will always be a faithful child of our God, at least I try really hard every day. Love you my dear friend! Thank you for what you do for us who read these and look forward to them! God bless you Harolene!!

  3. God had a reason for it not all looking the same. He wanted the words He spoke through your fingers to be seen and read, thought about and hopefully stored in a heart open and desiring of Him. It is all so good and reinforces the message hidden in this past Sunday’s sermon at Church. Thank you dear sister in Christ. Love you!

  4. Hi, I wrote on this page earlier, sent it & rered it twice but do not see it here now. I will check agin.

  5. Faithfulness is shown to us by our Heavenly Father, no better example could we have. Lots of people are faithfull for all intent & pirposes. However so many are just the opposite on the inside. They say I love you & glad I am married to you. On the inside they almost hate you & resent being your spouse. Or I am a Christian & am devoted to my spouse yet they spend hours fantasying about every member of the opposite sex they see. To be faithfull means in every way possible,,we can not pick & choose. Jesus stated that what a man thought in his heart so was he. Pretty direct. I don’t mean to be harsh but I have seen so much of unfaiuthfulness it really concerns me. And to be honest I have been that why myself at times whether on purpose or by accident. It is still the same. For that I have to ask forgiveness from the Lord. I want to be blessed there for I must seek His forgiveness. Jesus even told us to hold back giving our offering till we went & made things right with others. Then when we gave our offering the Father would bless us. May I never lose sight of the need to be faithful in all things. And never so proud that I refuse to seek & give forgiveness. May I always be a blessing & not a curse or pain to someone in my walk with the Lord. Thanks for your act of love & wisdom. May God tuly bless you till your life overflows with His blessings. You truly deserve every thing He has to give.
