Listen to that still small voice!

One of my earliest remembrances of my granddaddy Paulk was the way he prayed over us all as we gathered and knelt before we all left for our own homes after a wonderful Thanksgiving or Christmas Visit. He would always thank God for preserving us all alive down to the youngest baby, he would pray for a world-wide revival, but mostly I remember the phrase, “Thank you for protecting us from dangers both seen and un-seen”. This came to my mind yesterday as I stood and heard a doctor tell us how close my oldest baby had come to dying.

As I was getting ready for church yesterday morning I was thinking about all the Palm Sunday programs I had planned, from the choir marching in waving Palm branches to the songs about the risen Savior of us all. I came downstairs and saw my daughter sitting on the couch. She is naturally more fair of complexion than I, dipping more into the gene pool of her grandmother, but her face was chalk white. Against her wishes I took her to Urgent Care, which sent us straight to the emergency room with an express pass. They met us at the door with oxygen and a wheel chair and took her back to begin trying to find out what her problem was. After multiple tests, which included X-rays, CT scans and sonograms they found that she had “excessive blood clots” in both of her lungs and one large one in her left leg. They made her lay still and started the blood thinner Heparin in an IV. The doctor told us, “It is a good thing you came in right when you did, if that clot moved into the middle section between the lungs she would have been instantly dead, now that is a thought that sent a shiver up my spine, and hers too! On top of dealing with the blood clots they found that she was extremely anemic and are currently giving her transfusions, not only of blood, but also of iron. God is so good to have shown us this so that it could be taken care of!

The Jesus that we celebrated riding into Jerusalem yesterday and follow Him on this most holy week saved my daughter’s life yesterday by speaking with that still small voice into my heart so that I would act and take her to be seen about, and helped the physicians pinpoint the problems and start a solution for them. I don’t question why she wasn’t healed, in my heart she absolutely was healed and knows that she needs to take better care of herself because God is giving her a second chance at life!

Someone said a long time ago that God is a God of second chances! Do you need a second chance at life? Don’t wait until you have to come close to death to realize the changes you need to make and if you can’t do it alone ask God to help!

Philippines 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

About harolene

Thank you for stopping by for a visit! If you read my thoughts you will see that I am sometimes serious, at other times sappy or funny, occasionally I am sad and sentimental, but I am always sincere! I am a single mother who raised two children, born ten years apart and different sexes so first it was bows and dolls, pretty dresses and boys! When my son was born it was rough and tumble games, baseball, soccer, wrestling and girls! I am known for my "smile" and for my default answer to any situation, "no problem", which was something I didn't realize I did until it was pointed out to me! I am a moon watcher and a star gazer. I am astounded and feel so small knowing that every creature that has ever walked the face of this earth has gazed upon that same beautiful orb that my eyes can behold on any night when the earth is not wearing her cloak of clouds. My parents have made me the person that I am. Their love, veracity in all areas of life, humor and passion for their work and each other have given me hope that my life can actually be a happy one! Chances are if you are reading this you already know all this but again, I appreciate your stopping by! While you're here hit the "Like" button for me and thanks for checking in!
