Don’t Yoke Yourself!

ImageI read something today that I wondered about, it was “You are the sum total of the 5 people you spend the most time with!” Do you think that is true? 2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? Why do we walk into things that will cause us trouble? Is it because we want to help, please, impressing someone? Put someone in our debt? Is it because we are embarrassed to disagree with someone that we have been friends with for a long time, or maybe you just don’t want them to KNOW that you have a different opinion whether political or, and here is the BIGGIE, spiritually. What I hate is when someone assumes that you believe the way they do when it really is against your moral conviction. So how do you react? Do you speak up, just ignore it, go away, change the subject or really just go along with it? Well, I guess in the course of my lifetime, I have done it all. I am not proud to say that, but it is probably true. Someone told me once that I had let my ears become “garbage cans” because I would listen to anyone. Well, I don’t really agree with that, but I have probably heard more than I should have, but always for the purpose of taking it to the Lord in prayer. I tend to get myself in the middle of things, someone needs a favor and I am the one that gets put in the position of getting someone to do it for them, or someone is in financial trouble I try to step in, at my own expense, with the end of that hurting my own finances. It is like getting in a car in a minefield, we drive along not seeing where the mines are until we hit one and BOOM we land on our rear groveling in the mud. Is that pleasing to God? No. The scripture says not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers; don’t you think that also means people that don’t have as much faith, people that use YOUR faith instead of developing their own? I really do feel that it is our Christian duty to help people, as we can, but to help them learn that the scripture 1 PETER 5:7 Casting all your care on Him because He cares for YOU, really is for EVERY ONE of us. We will all get caught up in helping too much from time to time, just know that Jesus gave His life so that we could come to Him with our troubles. If anyone, and in this time of New Age and Inclusionist doctrines there are plenty, tries to feed you anything that leads you away from Jesus, don’t walk, RUN from them, don’t read their material or listen to their lies, they are making doctrines that fit their life style. Galatians 1:7…there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. My purpose here is to think of things that trouble me or that I need to think about and bring it to you, hoping it is something that YOU need TOO! Sometimes I feel a little over whelmed and think you might also feel that…sometimes we feel that to be Christ-like means we have to do any and every thing that people request of us, but Jesus says: Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you will find rest for your souls. We find that we should NOT be yoked with the people who load us with burdens, but if we get under the yoke with Jesus, we will find rest for our weary soul!
Get in the yoke with Jesus and He will help you carry the load!

Sometimes we get in with people not realizing what they are until they begin to use us. Many times we fail them and ourselves because we do not turn them to God, letting them know in the gentlest way possible that I can not do it, but God can. Others who should know God should know this. Yet, the problem is, many who call themselves Christians have not taken the time to get to know God and all He will do for them. It is a good post that causes one to think about the subjects presented and to consider them before God in our own lives. Thank You. Your sister in Christ,

Another timely post for me. Boundaries are so important – to keep a righteous Christian standard in my life, my home and family…is worth protecting not matter the cost. For my life it brings me confidence, for my home it provides refuge and for my family it directs their path. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord!
