Don’t be afraid!

awesome_photos_04As I write this it is still April 24, Armenian Memorial Day, which is a day to remember the slaughter of the Armenian people  because of their faith in Jesus as the Son of God.  My dad was always so proud to tell people that Armenia was the first Christian nation and in spite of torture and bloodshed they kept their faith. It has been said that America is not a Christian nation! I will loudly protest as I remind you that this country was founded on Christian principles and the Pilgrims came to this land because they wanted to have the freedom to worship God in their own way. We have it so easy, we have all God’s promises in the Word plus we worship in heated/air-conditioned churches that are decorated and have padded seats! So I ask you, “How hard is it for you to keep your faith?” God is reaching out His hand to comfort you; you have friends to agree with you in prayer!

Isaiah 41:8-10 I pulled you in from all over the world, called you in from every dark corner of the earth, Telling you, ‘You’re my servant, serving on my side. I’ve picked you. I haven’t dropped you.’ Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady; keep a firm grip on you.

Did you ever play a game in grade school where sides were picked? You were standing there waiting for someone to point at you, and maybe you were the last one picked? When God is doing the picking, you don’t have to be worried about getting picked last or not at all, because each of us are ALL God’s favorite child! Isaiah 43:1-4 “Read When You’re Between a Rock and a Hard Place” But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end—Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, and your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: That’s how much I love you!

Do you believe God at all? If you do then this promise has to make you feel so protected, so chosen, so loved. There have been times that the only words that would come from me were “Oh God, help me!” It is in those lonely, terrified times that He makes Himself known to you.  Isaiah 65:24 “Before they call out, I’ll answer. Before they’ve finished speaking, I’ll have heard.” I am not telling you fables or lies, I am giving you the Word of God, and His Word promises us that BEFORE we call, He will answer! Now, what need do you have? Remember He says to Fear not. When our little poodle, P’nut was alive, if a storm was raging outside he was shaking, all four pounds of him! I would pick him up, hold him and talk soothingly to him and would calm right down. We are more important to God than a pet is to us, He holds us in His hands and says, “Hey kid, don’t be afraid, I’m right here, I will calm the storm in YOUR Life”, those are the words I hear and so can you! Don’t be afraid!
