Got Joy?

Nehemiah 8:10 He continued, Go home and prepare a feast, holiday food and drink; and share it with those who dont have anything: This day is holy to God. Dont feel bad. The joy of God is your strength!

Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In your presence is fullness of joy; At your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 27:6 …therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in the tabernacle;

Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people.joy

I researched the Bible and found that JOY is referenced in the Bible 187 times! If you read the verses I have listed here you can see some different “joys”

Look at the first one, it says that the Joy OF THE LORD is our strength! So, when you are feeling like a spiritual 98-pound weakling, you can put your hand in HIS and He will give you strength!

Then we find the Psalmist David telling about the fullness of joy…think of having FULLNESS of joy all the time and he further says that at His right hand are pleasures forevermore! I think we could all use a little of that!

This next one is the one I have had to struggle with, the sacrifice of joy! Face it, when something has happened that made us feel our world turn upside down wasn’t it hard to just forget it and PRAISE the Lord?

If you said no, then come to talk to ME!

That is a big tool that the devil often tries on me, so I will get upset or distracted thereby hindering my praise, but would he use the word SACRIFICE if it was easy! But here is the best part, the part that gives us this sometimes elusive, emotion of joy…”Tidings of great JOY” it was to US, we are included in the “ALL people.”

Isaiah 9:6 refers to the coming of Jesus and calls him the Prince of Peace! And the angels said that it was good tidings of great JOY to know that Jesus was born!

If you don’t have JOY in your life, pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart, you will find the inner peace and the joy that you are missing!

  1. Below is something of a “form letter” type invitation. Please come and celebrate this blog post with me.

    Dear Harolene,

Something greater than “effective charity” is here. Like a peasant prophet, standing in a corn field with his law breaking, sabbath breaking, friends, defending himself against critics while wearing nothing but his peasant clothes with the patches of unshrunk cloth covering the holes and claiming that they are in the presence of someone greater than David or the temple, Jesus is alive and well on the streets of America. He is standing there in peasant clothes now talking to you.

    Will you hear him?

I invite you to listen to him

He is ever so humble. A homeless man seeking prayer for YOU, he demonstrates the very heart of Jesus, the goal of our Great Commission, and I am concerned that maybe you didn’t quite hear him. He doesn’t come with a best selling book, a PhD, or even advice on how to help the poor. Instead, he comes with a prayer request and with deep forgiving love that is so holy, you should take your shoes off as you encounter it.

    Please, visit the blog today.

I invite you to my blog, of course, because it’s there that I lay out my invitation to his. But it’s not mine that counts.
