The Light is there, can you see it?

I had counted the days, eleven of them so far of dismal, gray, no sunshine days. The air was so damp that my naturally wavy/curly hair was a mass of ugly, in other words, it was generally depressing. Being the spur-of-the-moment person that I am I decided to surprise my parents who were visiting relatives and holding a revival at the Armenian Pentecostal Church in Los Angeles by just showing up at the church! The thoughts of seeing their faces as I walked in made me smile for happy! If my plan worked, I would be able to walk into the already in progress service and I couldn’t wait.

I called someone I knew I could trust and asked if they would be willing to pick me up at LAX and take me to lunch…my plan was in progress; I was going to go to sunny LA and out of the damp grayness of the ATL!

I drove myself to the Atlanta airport and parked my car, the only luggage I took was a carry-on bag so I wouldn’t have to check anything or go to baggage claim upon arriving…I started walking and as I walked in the door a man dressed in a pilot’s uniform greeted me, introduced himself and asked where I was going and if he could carry my bag, he took me straight to my gate, walked up to the counter where they were checking passengers in, went around the back, said something to the lady where-upon the door was opened and I was escorted all the way to my seat, before anyone else had boarded! I think God sent him as an angel to help since I was running a little late…

OK, here’s the point of this little tale…

Somehow my little brain looked at the dismal days and thought the sun was further away than usual, had to be! So, imagine my surprise when, settled in my window seat, I watched the ascent as the Delta jet I was on began to pierce those gray clouds and to my shock and awe THE SUN WAS RIGHT THERE! THE SKY WAS BLUE, and the clouds were still there only now they were beneath me!! The sun was exactly where it always had been, it’s just that the clouds were so thick with whatever is in them that makes them so gray the rays of the sun did not penetrate it!

I know, you are probably saying, “Reading this was a total waste of my time, everybody knows the sun is right above the clouds, how stupid is she?”

If you are watching or listening to the news in the past few days it looks like we are in the most dismal, gray, awful, soot filled, polluted situation we can be in and it looks like there is no light for us anywhere! Well, I have some news for you, the light is there, you just don’t know it, or don’t recognize it so you are remaining in the dismal, gray, soot filled, polluted attitude of feeling helpless and a little hopeless and I feel sorry for you, I really do.

I don’t know a lot, but one thing this stupid girl does know is…

John 1: 1-12

1 In the very beginning[a] the Living Expression was already there.

And the Living Expression was with God, yet fully God.

2 They were together—face-to-face, in the very beginning.

3 And through his creative inspiration

this Living Expression made all things,

for nothing has existence apart from him!

4 Life came into being[g] because of him,

for his life is light for all humanity.

5 And this Living Expression is the Light that bursts through gloom—

the Light that darkness could not diminish!

6 Then suddenly a man appeared who was sent from God,

    a messenger named John.

7 For he came to be a witness, to point the way to the Light of Life,

    and to help everyone believe.

8 John was not that Light, but he came to show who is.

For he was merely a messenger to speak the truth about the Light.

9 For the Light of Truth was about to come into the world

    and shine upon everyone.

10 He entered into the very world he created,

    yet the world was unaware.

11 He came to the very people he created—

to those who should have recognized him,

but they did not receive him.

12 But those who embraced him and took hold of his name

    were given authority to become

    the children of God!

The light is Jesus, and He is there to bring light to our world, our country and into your personal life, and that’s all I have to say about that!
