It’s Good Friday!

ImageAs I write this, it is the end of the day on Holy Thursday. It is the day that Jesus sat at the table and had His last supper, the Passover meal, with His disciples. He washed their feet, broke bread with them, then walked to the place He would be captured and carried away to a mock trial, after having been betrayed by a friend, and finally, the cross. As He died, He opened the door for you and I to be allowed to walk right up to the Throne of God, boldly, and ask for mercy in our time of need. I do that often! Good Friday, I can see it now! “YEA”, Satan is saying, “Jesus is DEAD! I told you we could do it! Let’s party down!” Satan and his angels holding a party because the only Spirit/person ever born that could take him down was finally completely, irrevocably dead! He had started trying to get rid of Jesus when Moses’ generation was born, having all the children under the age of two killed..he thought he could wipe him out then! Again he instructed Herod to have all the boy babies under the age of two killed…Jesus escaped. Satan realized it when Jesus went into the dessert for 40 days to fast and he tempted Him to turn the stones into bread, accept Kingship from him, Satan. When Jesus didn’t buckle under any temptation, only answering with the Word of God everything that Satan brought to Him, Satan left him, for awhile, only to return later under the guise of Judas, who betrayed Him! Jesus was finally left alone as the soldiers took Him away from the Garden to be questioned and finally crucified. His disciples, all afraid of facing the same fate, ran! As far as I am concerned Jesus is the ONLY star in the headlines today, He died, for US. Satan partied until suddenly there was an earthquake, WAIT, what was that bright light shining through the darkness, the glow around this, this what? An angel? WHO IS THAT? IT IS JESUS!! Jesus fought him and WON, he took the keys of death and hell away from him, so legally WE ARE FREE! The earthquake happens again, the soldiers fall to the ground and Jesus burst forth from the grave! HE IS RISEN INDEED! We just need to come to the realization that we are really free from Satan and we do not have to be afraid! 1 Corinthians 10:13No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. Everything you have ever done is wiped away with one little phrase “Father forgive me, a sinner. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior” There it is, all done, FREE AT LAST! We are all faced with temptations of every kind every day and if we use the example Jesus left us, answer everything Satan throws at you with the Word, you too can win the victory! Read the Word, know it well, it is your best defense!
John 19:28-20 Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and released his spirit.
Be Blessed, Pray, ENJOY YOUR RESURRECTION DAY!

  1. Jesus’ prayer in the garden (see Matt. 26:39-44) always stuns me, esp.: “‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.'” He understood what He faced and how crucial that He follow through. How grateful am I that He did.
