This morning whole programs were given to honoring a great man to be sure, Nelson Mandela. On November 20 life imitated art as Paul Walker was killed in a fiery crash, hundreds went to the crash site either to mourn him or out of morbid curiosity and was given headlines of the morning news shows. What I am about to say is not in any way meant to demean the news coverage given to either of these notable deaths so don’t start breathing hard and deciding you will never read me again, please!
There was a young man in the car with Paul Walker do you know his name? There are Christian pastors being massacred as we speak for the simple reason they are Christians, can you tell me who they are? There is a reality star, Jen Arnold and I love her family, who is battling a rare form of cancer, I know a man that died this week with a brain tumor who lived in Greenville, SC did you know about him? There is another lady I know that has a terminal cancer presenting as a tumor in her brain that will probably take her away from her family before Christmas, you don’t know her either. I know another family that I have known since before the mom and dad were married, they have four children and they already had so much trouble and heartache in their family and now they have a daughter and a grandson in the same hospital, both dying.
I am not casting a bad light on anyone for not knowing these things, I am simply saying that there is a lot of suffering going on in this world that we never see or even know about. They say for every roach you see in your house there are a thousand hiding that you never see, I know that is a raw and rude analogy but it makes the point.
If you think you are the only person in trouble in this Holiday Season think again… there are others that are suffering things you couldn’t even imagine. Sometimes our troubles come to us and we feel as helpless as a woman who goes into the pangs of childbirth, there is no way out except to carry through, in that moment you are totally at the mercy of the pain to make you push and deliver the baby.
The next thing a lot of folk do is to blame God. I have heard it again, and again, “If there were a God, why would all these terrible things keep happening?” Let me ask you this, If you owned a beautiful house, every room furnished with the best quality furnishing, you have filled the Fridge with top quality food and the pantry is full of any staple you could imagine. You decide to give it to a deserving couple, a couple that you are heavily, emotionally, invested in. You hand them the keys and tell them they have full ownership of the house and grounds surrounding it, all they have to do is live, eat, tend the grounds and walk in the gardens in the cool of the day. You asked that they not tamper with one special little tree in the garden, and it’s all theirs. Later on, you find out they have defied your request by defiling the Special tree, and, you find they have given their lease to someone, disguised as a person, who is really a cunning snake?
God gave us the earth to rule, dominate, replenish, we were undisciplined, now Satan has rule of the air around this earth. The only way God will help us now is if we pray and ask Him to do so! Matthew 18:19-20 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” These are the words of Jesus, notice He said, If we agree “on earth” it will be done, where? “In heaven”. We have to be in agreement and ask Him, we gave the rights to our house to Satan long ago. I feel that his lease is nearly up, that the time is coming soon when he will be bound in chains and cast into hell, yes I do believe there is a burning hell. So why are people astounded when there are wars, tornadoes, starving children, famine, terrible diseases? Satan rules and where he rules there is chaos, it isn’t God’s fault, and it is the fault of humans. So people want to say there must not be a God or these things wouldn’t happen, that is what they want to believe, it takes the responsibility off of them to pray. From Psalm 108 Cover the whole earth with your glory! And for the sake of the one you love so much, reach down and help me—answer me!
I pray as the Psalmist King prayed, God help me! I say that many times every day. I can say “Jesus is coming soon” until I am blue in the face, I can call myself a “Watchman on the wall” and have a name tag made with that title on it, but unless the people I am talking to believe me, I am wasting my breath, however, Ezekiel 3:17-19 says something very important to us, “Son of man, I’ve made you a watchman for the family of Israel. Whenever you hear me say something, warn them for me. If I say to the wicked, ‘You are going to die,’ and you don’t sound the alarm warning them that it’s a matter of life or death, they will die and it will be your fault. I’ll hold you responsible. But if you warn the wicked and they keep right on sinning anyway, they’ll most certainly die for their sin, but you won’t die. You’ll have saved your life.” When a person is warned you have done your job, but I would admonish you to do it in love, else you will not be heard, at all. God is love and to show Him, we have to represent that quality of love, not easy, I know, but necessary. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and ask that you pray for those who may need your agreement in prayer!
