Are you wounded?

Photo 155How many times, in your life, have you been injured? I have had several injuries in my life, to list a few I was thrown through a windshield when I was only nine months old which left a long scar on my scalp; then I was hit in the mouth by a swing which left a scar between my lower lip and my chin. While unloading the dishwasher I picked up two glasses which exploded in my hand and nearly amputated my left thumb leaving a long scar and multiple other burns and cuts, plus having several cysts removed from my scalp, so if every cut, scrape and burn I had ever gotten still showed, I would look like the Bride of Frankenstein but thankfully our bodies were made to heal! When my son tore the ACL in his left knee, a donor was placed in the torn muscle’s place with titanium screws it is serving him well and it has become his own.

When God created us from the dust of the earth, He blew His own breath into our nostrils we are His. We were meant to subdue, to dominate, the earth and all that was in it, we sold ourselves short for the lust of the eye for the forbidden fruit. We were able to walk with God, to hear and see Him. God made us from the dust of the earth. When Satan deceived Eve, God told him he would crawl on his belly and eat the dust of the earth, dust of the earth, right… US!  Giving up our rights meant sickness, death and pain, but our bodies retained the ability to heal itself. I watched the flesh of my thumb grow together, my skin knit together so beautifully that you really have to look close to even see the scar.

Point, we were made to heal. Jesus healed the blind, made the lame man walk, cured the leper, cast out demons and raised the dead! John 14:12 “Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can’t believe that, believe what you see—these works. The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do.”

I’ve seen many miracles of physical healing, but harder to see is the healing of the “heart”. Psalm 34:18 If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath. Psalm 147:3 He heals the heartbroken and bandages their wounds. Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.

Even Jesus wept, over Jerusalem and at the death of His friend, Lazarus but when you let sadness and problems define you, you have moved out of the Garden all over again. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind! 2 Timothy 1:7

A favorite old hymn says, “He knows the bitter weary way, the endless striving day by day, the soul that weeps, the soul that prays, He knows, He knows. He knows how hard the fight has been, the clouds that come our lives between, the wounds the world has never seen, He knows, He knows.” Take your wounded, broken heart, to God, He will mend it and you will not be able to see where the scars were!

Thanks for being so to the point about this topic. Physical pain can be unbearable at times, the body has to have meds to ease the pain or it will go into a coma to protect itself. True there is no pain medicine for aches of the heart. Some times they are self-caused but mostly they are the result of others trying to destroy you. I had a position as assistant pastor & almost worshipped the man I was working under. Out of the blue he fired me with all kinds of false charges. It hurt beyond words & took a number of years to get over. My wife died when God had told me He was going to heal her. He did but took her anyway. Confused & hurt I didn’t know what to do. But the Lord me to trust Him, be obedient, & wait & He would heal my broken heart. In just days He did it as he said. I know now from experience God is the only one who can heal a broken heart. Not only does He heal it but He fills it with His love & joy & it comes out far better than it was when it got hurt. He is an awesome God & when we accept that He can make us new & better than we were before the hurt then we know the true Lord of our life. God bless keep up the good work.
