Call it what you will, “rock and a hard place”, “devil and the deep blue sea”, or my more vulgar term when I feel like I am a “cornered rat” is to say that my “arse is in a sling”… if I were not writing that here I would have used a different word! So having settled the different ways to say you are “in a pinch” I will say that I am feeling that way as I speak and thought you might know exactly what I am talking about. My normal way to pray about something like this is to ask God for “solution”.
In order to really know what “solution” means exactly, I looked up the definition and I am sharing it with you: 1.the act of solving a problem, question, etc.: The situation is approaching solution. 2. The state of being solved: a problem capable of solution. 3. A particular instance or method of solving; an explanation or answer: The solution is as good as any other. 4. In Mathematics a. the process of determining the answer to a problem. b. The answer itself.
When you ask God for solution you are not suggesting all the ways you would like to see your problem solved or have your prayer answered, it is asking Him to fix it the way only He knows how in His infinite wisdom! When we continue to worry over a situation it means we don’t trust Him enough to solve it for us and I don’t ever want to come short of believing that He has my best interest at heart!
When You’re Between a Rock and a Hard Place
1-4 But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob,
the One who got you started, Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
it won’t be a dead-end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you…
When I was a little girl I remember getting all dressed up and asking, “Do I look pretty?” My mother informed me more than once that you are not supposed to ask people if you are pretty! I know that is proper etiquette, but I feel that when we come before our Creator, that is the very question we SHOULD ask of Him….”Father, do I look pretty to you?” That would be the one desire of my heart, to be pretty to Him, the One! I was “fearfully and wonderfully made”…by Him. I know he loves to look at his handiwork and be proud of us. He promises us in the scripture that He will always be with us, even when we are between a “rock and a hard place”. Are you feeling that way today? Are you facing things you feel you cannot face alone? Whereas I cannot be everywhere physically, God IS everywhere and can be with us all, all the time! Don’t be scared, He sees you. Jesus told us to: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
I pause and pray with you. Psalm 37:23 “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their (my) lives.”
