Looking up till I get a crick in my neck!

IMG_1127Daniel faced the lions, the three Hebrew children faced the fiery furnace, David faced Goliath and about this time two years ago Nik faced the Falls! Wow! I believe that most of the country sat riveted to the picture on the screen, watching as Nik Wallenda prayed his way across over 1400 feet of wire from the US side of the Niagara Falls to be welcomed by the Border Patrol of Canada, who was waiting for him on the platform with his family and the cameras of the news crews! His prayer was not one of “help me” but praise to God and thanking Jesus for being his Savior! I heard one of the newsmen ask him how he could pray to a Deity for protection when he was doing something so dangerous, the answer came quick, “Because God gave me a gift…” One thing he said impressed me greatly, “I am doing this to be an inspiration to anyone who has ever had a dream. Nothing is too big if you just keep your eye on the other side.”

We all have lofty goals in the beginning of our youth, dreams of marrying the perfect person, making a lot of money, changing the world, being a star, or, in my case, writing the Great American Novel! Ambition goes back to the beginning, before time began, with Lucifer, Son of the Morning, God’s praise and worship leader, decided to take over the Throne and was cast out of Heaven. Landing on Planet Earth, where he set up his kingdom, he finally found a way to worm his way back in by appealing to the ambition of a young lady who had everything her heart could desire! Think of it, she had Adam, and from all representation of him he was one buff, gorgeous dude! Together they had the run of a beautiful garden and of course she had to be beautiful…. wavy, long, flowing hair, a body to die for and they didn’t have to worry about wardrobe changes! All Satan had to do was tempt them with a little piece of forbidden fruit and that was the end of Paradise and the beginning of all our woes!

Adam and Eve’s two sons had a quarrel over which God liked best and Cain killed Abel! Abraham had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac, and they are still fighting over territory in the Middle East. The story goes on to Jacob and Esau, Joseph and his brothers, and the devil had it made! His favorite tool, the Wedge, was being used successfully to bring division between brothers, cousins, husband and wives, and countries over their borders.

I think the worst kind of war is when it happens in the family, that is when Satan gets his biggest laugh at us all. Our country had a War Between the States, which had brother fighting against brother on the battlefields from North to South. Will there ever be peace? Luke 21: Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. “And then—then!—they’ll see the Son of Man welcomed in grand style—a glorious welcome! When all this starts to happen, up on your feet. Stand tall with your heads high. Help is on the way!” No President, or other World leader, including the Pope, will be able to bring peace; it’s just not going to happen! 1Thessalonians 5:3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. What is our option? The mouth of the lions were shut for Daniel, the three Hebrews in the furnace, but the fire didn’t even make them smell like smoke, David killed the giant with one smooth stone aimed exactly right, and Nik made it across the Falls while praising God! Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee because he trusts in Thee. I know it’s hard, but why don’t you keep the peace in your own circle of friends, it has to start somewhere!
