The burden of guilt

Photo 155I have thought of this subject all day so I figure some of you Readers may be having a problem with your faith and confidence levels. I take my car in to be checked out, it was due in May and I still haven’t done it, so if something goes wrong with the car is it because the car is bad or is it because I neglected to get it checked?

Our physical body gets hauled in for check-ups, also over-due but what about our inner thoughts and feelings about our own self and where we stand with God? Let’s sit back and take a look inside.

Hiding over in the corner of your mind is guilt about all sorts of things, big and little! With me I get guilty because I don’t mop my kitchen floor every day, because I fail on my diet or exercise plan, because I need to get paper-work done, been meaning to paint my room…for three years! All sorts of things crowd our mind and it is the devils delight to see us in a quandary over so many things when our mind should be in a place of peace in the knowledge that God is our strength and help in times of trouble. The Eternal Arms shelter you. “Underneath are the Everlasting Arms.” Deuteronomy 33: 27 The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, ‘Destroy them!’ This promise is to those who rise above the earth-life and seek to soar higher, to the Kingdom of Heaven!

You must not allow yourself to feel the burden of your failures, go on in faith and the clouds will clear, the way will lighten and the path becomes less stony with every step you take. So, as the Apostle Paul said, RUN that you may obtain and success will crown your efforts! Sitting and stewing over things gone wrong will just take you further down! When Jesus healed someone, He didn’t have words of reproach for him or her, He just made them whole and free. The woman at the well was not overwhelmed when Jesus told her she already had five husbands and was not married to the man she was with now, He offered her living water! The woman taken in adultery was told “Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.” She was not told to bear the burden of the consciousness of her sin! Remember, now abides these three, Faith, Hope and Charity.

Faith is your attitude towards God. Charity your attitude towards your fellow-man, but Hope which is so necessary, is confidence in yourself to succeed! Confidence that Jesus will help when you call on Him! Philippians 4:13 For I can do everything through Christ, Who gives me strength!

OK, the exam is all over with, did you look in all the hidden corners of your mind for doubt, in the back of your heart for hate or resentment? Did you give it a through wash in Jesus’ blood? Great! You are given a clean bill of health for your spirit man!

Be blessed, pray, take stock, don’t feel guilty, and give it to the Lord!
