It’s about believing!

Newton’s Law states that for every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction. He also realized, after watching an apple fall from a tree possibly in the moonlight, that the same thing that made the apple fall held the moon in the sky! There is a society of people who say that time travel has been “proven” and they are taking money from people to invest so that when you really do travel to the future you will have money to spend!

I know a young girl who believed a guy really, really loved her when he asked her to prove her love to him by “giving” him her virginity, convincing her that he would marry her and she did it even after I told her what was going to happen, and was surprised when he never even called again. My point was that she believed him and acted on that belief.

God’s law states, Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. But if we really believed that, I think some of us might be living a little differently, just thinking.

Matthew 7:12 “Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get”

The last couple of days just listening to people “gossip” makes me wonder if it’s because people love hearing all the dirt because it makes the things they have done seem less significant, maybe?

A lot of times embarrassing things I have done, or said, go through my mind and I get embarrassed all over again, so I am not likely to judge anyone else I figure their own shame will eventually catch up with them if they are guilty!

Matthew 7:15-20 “Be wary of false preachers who smile a lot, dripping with practiced sincerity. Chances are they are out to rip you off some way or other. Don’t be impressed with charisma; look for character. Who preachers are is the main thing, not what they say. A genuine leader will never exploit your emotions or your pocketbook. These diseased trees with their bad apples are going to be chopped down and burned.

This scripture tells us that there will be false preachers and that we should not look at their personality and believe them, but look at their works and the fruit of their work. One thing my dad always told us is there cannot be a counterfeit if there is not the real thing! Who would take a fake $20 if there were not real ones out there somewhere? We can’t let anyone stand between us and God, and I am saying to as much to myself tonight as I am to you, because if we let someone make us so angry or disappointed that we are willing to give up, then they are closer to God than we are!

King David, the Psalmist, was a murderer and an adulterer but he loved God and when he was desperate for God to help him, he wrote Psalm 51:10, Don’t look too close for blemishes, give me a clean bill of health. God, make a fresh start in me. He asked for God’s mercies, and God never let him down and it was said that David was a “man after God’s own heart”!

Lamentations 3:22-24 God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over). He’s all I’ve got left.

On the positive side, there are over 3000 promises in the Bible, God’s Word! Jesus promised us that He would be with us even until the end of the world, He promised us eternal life; He promised that He would return to this earth and take us with Him to the Father where we would live for eternity. If I believe the good promises, then I have to also believe that I need to live according to His Word, and in Him I am blessed!
