What are your three words?

5471389I read a blog today titled “The Three Ds” by Pastor J.C. Myers http://www.joychristianministries.com/heart-of-jc/three-ds and got a bright idea! Go over and give his blog a read, it is very good, but read this one first! Thanks!

If you had to describe yourself with three words, what would they be?

I heard a commercial for a local newspaper that made me rethink my cancelled subscription! They described themselves as being “Credible, Compelling, Complete“. Then the news came on and they did the same thing, describing themselves as “Dedicated, Determined, Dependable“.

I am wondering how I would describe me? I’ll give it some thought before I end this article, are you thinking about yours?

I immediately thought how the “C” words described Jesus; Credible: John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Compelling: Mark 11:15-18 So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple. Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” And the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all the people were astonished at His teaching.

Complete: Matthew 16:15-17 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. He was Son of God and flesh man; I would say that made Him Complete!

Then I thought about the “D’s”, Dedicated: Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Determined: We know that when Jesus took the challenge of the cross, he was determined to take the keys of death and hell away from Satan

Dependable: Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

There is no way to measure up completely to the man who Jesus was in the flesh, I’m thankful, He loves me just the way I am. A song says, “When He was on the cross, I was on His mind”! I feel that when you love someone, you need to love him or her “enough”. That means your love is enough to do whatever it takes to make it work, to make a working union.

I choose to believe that as He died on that cross He looked into the future to this girl, sitting at the computer in this room, which is in complete disarray, saw me, and loved me enough, enough to die for my sin so that I could live with Him in Paradise for eternity.

Psalm 8:3-5 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man who You are mindful of him, And the son of man who You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. He is talking to us!

So you ask, “What are my three words?” I’m thinking, Soulful, Seeking, Sincere!
