System overload, that is a message you never want to see! Today’s ordeal of trying to deal with the update on my IPhone made what little patience I had going for me disappear! I had to delete or move to the cloud so many of my pictures and a lot of my music to make room and I was a very unhappy Apple user!
An overload on your cell phone is pretty simple comparatively, but when you see that message on your computer, fear strikes and then it’s all out panic mode, then you need to clean out the computer and upgrade! So, I decided I probably needed to update my computer and found out that I was not just one program behind, but three! Solution was to buy the programs, which could be delivered online, and install it, and that was it, or was it?
I immediately began to be notified that junk files had been found, and then there was junk mail, and spam (not the kind in a can). I was asked, by a little figure dressed like a Knight, in shining armor, if I wanted to clean up these files. I answered, “Yes”. After I gave my consent, another box popped up, “Are you sure you want to delete these files”, “Yes, I am sure” Next the message came, “This will delete these files permanently, are you sure you want to delete them?” Finally, after I had assured and reassured the little Knight that I knew exactly what I wanted, he deleted the junk files and the unwanted things that were slowing down my computer.
I gave that a little thought. God walked with Adam and Eve every evening, so it was strange that on this particular evening they were nowhere to be found! “Where are you?” He asked Adam, “I heard Your voice but I’m naked, so I was embarrassed,” Adam answered. That was when the “blame game” first started and from then until now we have been taking junk into the perfect computer God created, us. We could subdue the earth, dominate the animals, eat of all the fruit in the Garden, but there was one “button” in the program they were not supposed to push, but they, like me when I was a little girl and pushed the green button on my granddad’s radio which broke it and earned a spanking for me, did it thereby deleting our special relationship with God and our collapsing our expanded mind.
The Psalmist King put some bad information into his “computer” and asked for a “live chat” where he confessed his faults and asked for help!
Psalm 139:23-24 Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong—then guide me on the road to eternal life.
When I do something dumb that causes me problems I call a number and pay fifty dollars by credit card which enables me to speak with an expert who tells me what do to in order to get it up and running! When it comes to the computer in our mind we look, hear and do things that cause our personal computer to “crash” and then we need special help so we call on the one that created our computer, God (and we don’t have to pay fifty dollars!)
These little Trojan viruses sneak in when we have the programs that contain hate, greed, jealousy, lust, and then we have to ask the Knight, in the form of the blood of Jesus, to come and delete all those tainted files!
Jeremiah 17:9-10 “The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.”
There is a program we can install in our spirit after the blood has cleansed us, and that is the Holy Spirit! We invite Him to come in and bring along the Fruit of the Spirit!
Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” These wonderful fruit are the antidote for our bad attitude, which will always bring a crash in our life. Just like when we buy our phone or computer we get a contract that ensures that we can get help we have a contract with God, you can read the details in Hebrews 13:5-6 “Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?”
2Corinthians 7:1 With promises like this to pull us on, dear friends, let’s make a clean break with everything that defiles or distracts us, both within and without. Let’s make our entire lives fit and holy temples for the worship of God.
In our personal lives every day we find ourselves overloaded with burdens and sins and care of this life, this is totally unnecessary, 1 Peter 5:7 gives us the solution, “Casting all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.”
Go ahead, do a little cleaning and delete all of those old files, you’ll run a lot faster and feel a whole lot better!
