My dominoes are falling!

Thoughts are like dominoes that are all lined up, when one falls down it hits the next and the next and that is exactly the way my mind works. I heard of something today that triggered a few thoughts that tumbled over each other.

I heard of a robot called Norman, who goes into a hospital room after a patient with an infectious disease has been discharged and the room has been thoroughly cleansed by humans goes into the room and cleanses it with “brilliant pulses of ultraviolet light that can kill any microorganisms left in the hospital room.” Norman the germ-zapping robot is being used to disinfect a hospital in Spain.

When I heard of Norman the first thing I thought was that we are supposed to be light in this world of darkness.

Matthew 5:14  Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

Every morning when I say prayers with my grandson while taking him to school, I always say, “Let him be a bright and shining light to show others what a Christian young man is in this world today!”

So many times in the Christian community people don’t want to be around those folk who don’t share their beliefs, also known as “sinners”. While I agree that when you are living a good life you need to “change your hitching post” as far as your everyday life goes, there are times when you have the opportunity to take a little light to the darkness that you should be willing to do so. We used to say that Christians are taking “water to the ocean” when we should be taking water to the dry desert land.

Jesus gave us the commission to be a light bearer.

When a person has had a powerful, personal, salvation experience, a light turns on in them that the whole world can see. We used to rejoice at the excitement in new Christians and joke that they should “be locked up for 30 days” after their conversion! But it is that very excitement that attracts others, and the light then turns on in them, where they were formerly dark, depressed and without hope, the light shines on everyone around!

The great sadness is when one of these light bearers suddenly gets discouraged, and it happens,

1 Peter 5: 6-11 “Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are! —Will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.”

There is nothing wonderful or enlightening here tonight except to say I think we should all sing the little song, “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine”, good night Candle dear!

About harolene

Thank you for stopping by for a visit! If you read my thoughts you will see that I am sometimes serious, at other times sappy or funny, occasionally I am sad and sentimental, but I am always sincere! I am a single mother who raised two children, born ten years apart and different sexes so first it was bows and dolls, pretty dresses and boys! When my son was born it was rough and tumble games, baseball, soccer, wrestling and girls! I am known for my "smile" and for my default answer to any situation, "no problem", which was something I didn't realize I did until it was pointed out to me! I am a moon watcher and a star gazer. I am astounded and feel so small knowing that every creature that has ever walked the face of this earth has gazed upon that same beautiful orb that my eyes can behold on any night when the earth is not wearing her cloak of clouds. My parents have made me the person that I am. Their love, veracity in all areas of life, humor and passion for their work and each other have given me hope that my life can actually be a happy one! Chances are if you are reading this you already know all this but again, I appreciate your stopping by! While you're here hit the "Like" button for me and thanks for checking in!
