While watching the Golden Globes Award pre-show (in other words all the famous people waiting in front of the camera to tell us all “who” they are wearing), I was thinking, they are just plain ordinary people who are talented in an area that got them noticed and in the public eye! We are all stars in our own right, aren’t we?
Sally Field will probably never live down standing in front of the Academy Awards audience, and uttering those words! Actually, I didn’t see anything wrong with it; she expressed her happiness at impressing her peer group and had the Oscar in her hand to prove it!
In grade school, if there were ever a team to be chosen, one person on each side would call a name until everyone had been picked. What you didn’t want was to be picked last, that was just plain embarrassing! When I was in the 10th grade, being the new kid, I was chosen last until one day we played kick ball! I was a master of the game! I could kick the ball out of the park, and everybody wanted me on their team, but when it came time to play basketball my 5′ frame couldn’t jump high enough to throw a ball into the basket, nor guard anyone…they were able to just throw the ball over my head…so I was back to being chosen last!
We all want to be important to someone, to be the most important person in at least one person’s life at least I did, I still do. There is one time that I always feel first, that is when I have my prayer time with my Lord. There have been times that I haven’t felt close enough to Him and maybe a little jealous because I would see Him working through someone, feel their anointing or hear them give a wonderful sermon, maybe read something wonderfully inspired that they have written, and then I would wonder if I could ever earn being first, even with God.
You have children who need you for everything in their little world, then they grow up and have spouses of their own, your significant other may decide to leave by choice or death might claim them and you feel abandoned, alone, what is the solution for this? Are you there? If you read the Psalms you find that David felt alone, a lot, but he found consolation in his Lord way out in desert places caring for his sheep. I think there are probably a lot of people who experience that kind of loneliness, are there any honest people out there?
But the good news for you is this, I have found a friend that sticks closer than a brother Proverbs 18:24, and He is always there for you and me in any crisis! You don’t have to call Him on the cell phone, or try to find Him on Friend Finder, all you have to do is call out His name. Reminds me of the old song, “You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am, I’ll come running to see you again. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, all you have to do is call and I’ll be there, yes I will, You’ve got a friend”
There is a wonderful scripture that really gives me all the assurance that the wounded ego of a young girl, or middle-aged woman or man ever needs: John 15:16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit-fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name.
So since He has done such an important thing for me by choosing me, what is my job? What is the most important thing I can do for Him? Our most important job is to bear fruit, to help someone, anyone, whenever and wherever you can, to find the Lord, to show His love and compassion in your everyday life, and to represent Him in the best way possible.
I am so proud that He chose me and guess what, He chose you too! #weareimportanttoGod
