There comes a time in every one of our lives when we feel the need to make a change, and sometimes that involves having to make a hard decision as to what you need to do. God gave the Promised Land to the children of Israel but He didn’t hand it over to them work free; there was a job they had to do in order to acquire it! You can pray and He can answer but unless you get off your duff and do something it will never happen! I remember when my brother was about three years old that he was pedaling his little red tricycle around the kitchen table when he saw a plate of cookies that our mother had baked sitting on the counter. Instead of pedaling over to get himself one he stopped, looked heavenward, and said, “God, hand me one of those cookies!” When God didn’t hand him the cookie he got very upset!
The Bible tells us that when we work we should to do it with all our might! Luke 9:62 And Jesus said to him “No man having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God”. So if you find you are stuck in the same place with your wheels spinning splashing mud all over the place and you are not at a Monster Truck Rally, then you know it is time to get up and do something about yourself!
If you need to lose weight get off the couch and exercise, go on a diet and quit feeling sorry and angry that nobody likes you the way you are! Just make a determined decision that you will do it and not for anyone else except yourself because you are worth it! If you don’t desire to diet and exercise then be happy the way you and don’t give a flip what anyone thinks but God because He loves you just the way you are! You don’t have any money? Get off the sofa and find a job, and don’t tell me that there are no jobs available, it may not be the job you want but there are jobs that actually pay money! I knew a man that continually looked for a job that paid “six figures” while never applying himself to become WORTH six figures! Are you tired of the way your house looks? Get a paintbrush and go for it! Home Depot or Lowes are full of all kinds of goodies that don’t cost a fortune and you feel so much better when you’re done. I read that when a person is sitting in clutter it actually makes them depressed, so get up and throw something away!
The Apostle Paul said to the Philippians 3:13-14 I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. Isaiah 43:16-21 This is what God says, the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves…. “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands. Wild animals will say ‘Thank you!’—The coyotes and the buzzards–Because I provided water in the desert, rivers through the sun-baked earth, Drinking water for the people I chose, the people I made especially for myself, a people custom-made to praise me.
If you don’t think you can do it remember that we have the assurance that we can do anything with His help in Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Get up and DO whatever it is you have been putting off, in other words, ACTIVATE!
