Why is today, April 24, important to me?

Today, April 24, is Armenian Memorial Day, the day those martyred because of their belief that Jesus was the one and only Son of the true and living God Almighty, so I am thinking about our prayers and here’s the deal, the Bible says in Matthew 7:7 “Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.” It goes on to say that everyone that asks will receive, find and have it opened to them, that means any or all of us can approach God and He will give us an answer. Don’t want to get off my thought here, which I often do because as I start talking and thinking other ideas present themselves and either seem more important than the original or just plainly make me forget my point! So what it is already?

Being raised in the home of a pastor, one who really cared for the people in his congregation, I heard prayers for parishioner’s requests and as I grew and people began to ask me to pray for them I heard even more. So as a prayer meeting leader, Sunday school teacher and a generally compassionate person I have heard every request you can think of so very few things can surprise me. No this is not where I begin to list things that seemed insane or less important or just plain stupid it is where I am going to be amazed that we still ask for such simple things, things that we can do for ourselves or are just plain greedy. When, as I have said before, I came to the realization that God loved every one the same I knew that God was not going to answer the prayer you may pray for God to give you someone else’s husband or wife, or steal money from another person or a company so that you can have it. I wonder if the prayers that are going up from all us comfortable Christians in the US concentrate on what we want rather than asking for a closer walk with Him, or peace for our Nation and then there is the little matter of the massacre that is going on in the Middle East right now of Christians. There are children being beheaded, their heads placed on poles so that people will see what their faith has brought them and be afraid to stand up for their Christian beliefs. I have talked many times about the attempt at a complete Genocide of the Armenian people by the Muslims in Turkey but that was back in 1915 so it is easy to say that the modern Muslim is not responsible for them and that is true, however they are now making their own sacrifices in the name of Allah while we are here in the comfort of our air conditioned and heated homes with plenty of food in our pantry and a school system where our children can get an education. We are not noticing that our freedoms are slipping away. For those of you who have read the last book of the Bible, Revelation, and read about the “anti-Christ” you may have said “I will never take the mark of the Beast”. OK I hear you, but when it comes to the day that you turn on your computer and an image appears and you are not allowed access to your information or your money unless you take an oath or pledge of loyalty to a certain person, one that doesn’t appear to have horns or isn’t breathing fire you may think there is no harm in it. Have you thought it would be a good idea for a baby to have a “chip” put in him at the hospital when he is born so that “identity theft” will become impossible? Or get one in your own hand with all your information on it for the same reason?

Go ahead and think what you will my friend, think that I have lost my little mind and sound like a fanatic I don’t care I just know that it is coming like an express train coming down the track that we are standing right in the middle of with no one telling us to get off before we get run over. I am standing here waving a warning flag and saying that our prayers need to be GOD HELP US! We need to pray for those that are suffering and losing their life because they claim Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

Is it too late? I don’t know, but 2 Chronicles 7:14 says,  “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

There have been some that have taken offense when I used that scripture and think there is nothing wrong in our land, well sweetheart all you have to do is watch the evening news and you will hear all you need to know about what is very wrong with us.

I am not pointing a finger at anyone except myself, my prayer always starts with “Help me”… and today when I heard myself saying that to the Lord I felt ashamed because He has already given me more than I could ever deserve. Are there things that I need? Yes of course! Are they things I can live without? Absolutely! So I am turning my eyes toward the Christians who are being told to change their faith or get out, as if they had a place to go, and the ones who are daily being martyred and joining the Cloud of Witnesses in the heavens!

James 4:1-3 Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again. They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves. You lust for what you don’t have and are willing to kill to get it. You want what isn’t yours and will risk violence to get your hands on it. You wouldn’t think of just asking God for it, would you? And why not? Because you know you’d be asking for what you have no right to. You’re spoiled children, each wanting your own way.

I think that scripture says it all. If you think this is overkill just love me anyway, after you have prayed for me.

  1. AMEN!

    Preach it! Sista! Preach it!!!

Comfort the disturbed and disturb the comforted!

We need shook loose from the hold the intoxicating commercial atmosphere has on us. Our world is currently run by those merchants on those ships who will mourn when Babylon falls. “Pull out of the whore!” is John, the seer’s, word to us (Rev. 18:4). We have corrupted ourself with that seductive Dame Folly, and if there is to be any hope, we must pull out. A graphic image that disturbs, to be sure.

But with Christians losing their heads for Jesus, now is not the time to shrink in fear. We must join the early church (that cloud of witnesses), like when some of her leaders were going to jail, some losing their lives, and pray asking God to make us BOLD! (Acts 4:29). We need his strength, his hope, and a renewed trust in his love and power for this fight, for it belongs to him and not us. But we can join him on the winning side!

Yes. Now is the time. Yes. We are the people. Thank you for your sermon. It is not a paranoid fear, but a wake up call. I doubt there will be a message on my computer any time soon demanding my allegiance to whomever so that I can access my account and go on with MY “life” as it were. But I happen to work in a facility even now that expects me to pledge allegiance to the flag at the start of every day. And even though that pledge sates we are “one nation UNDER God…” we prove that sentiment to be empty words when we conclude with “a moment of silence” in reverence to the god of your choice. And not only that, but during the pledge, everyone harmoniously stands reverently with hand on heart before the flag reciting the words in unison. To remove your hand, turn your head and/or close your mouth risks displaying DISRESPECT to that flag. But during the “moment of silence” it never occurs to anyone that shuffling around gathering up your bag, your gear, sliding in your chair before you leave the room etc is every bit as much discrespectful – EXCEPT for the fact that we were devoting “silence” to a god of our choice which is rightly not worth our time or silence or reverence. And this is the god our one nation is currently under.

So… in that sense, it has already begun. And we were there already on April 23rd, not to mention we were stoned out of our minds on April 20th!!!!

So… again, I say. AMEN! Preach it Sista!!

    1. Thank you!! Exclamation points to infinity and beyond (quoting Buzz Lightyear!) When I think of all of the close relatives I had that I never knew because they shed their blood and I have a cushy life it makes me a little ill. Yet they without us are not made perfect, wow think about that! ❤ and (((hugs)))
