If God sent you a text message…

I was watching a game show, the Family Feud, and I heard a question asked that caught my attention, it was “If you got a text message from God what would He tell you to stop doing?” I was surprised as the team answering guessed all the normal “sins” you would think might make God want to text you about were not the answers on the board, the host was mystified and so was I! When the answers were revealed the number one answer was that God would text you to say, “stop stressing and worrying”. What happened to “Casting all your care on Him for He cares for you?” 1Peter 5:7 “So why be unhappy and fret about things we have no control over?”

One thing I have had to learn is that when there is nothing I can do about a situation I hold my hands palms up and mentally stack all those things I can’t handle on them and then lift my hands to present them to God to let Him handle them for me! We worry about our homes, our jobs, our relationships but when it comes right down to it we just need to remember, Psalm 127:1-2 If God doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks. If God doesn’t guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap. It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves? King James says, “Give His beloved sleep.”

Isn’t it nice to know we are the beloveds of the Lord? Then let me ask you this, “Why are you walking the floor at night instead of sleeping? Psalm 37:1-4 “Don’t bother your head with braggarts or wish you could succeed like the wicked. In no time they’ll shrivel like grass clippings and wilt like cut flowers in the sun. Get insurance with God and do a good deed, settle down and stick to your last. Keep Company with God, get in on the best. Open up before God, keep nothing back; he’ll do whatever needs to be done. He’ll validate your life in the clear light of day and stamp you with approval at high noon.” Verse 4 King James says: “Delight yourself also in the Lord: and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” The DESIRES of my heart? That’s what the good Book says! Verse 39-40 of that Psalm says: “But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked and save them, because they trust in Him.”

Whatever the problem is that is keeping you awake at night, know that God is aware of all that is going on in your life and since He is a fair and just God, He will not suffer you being mistreated, go back to the verse in Psalm 127 that promises that He gives His beloved sleep, and when you get restless or worried just turn to that scripture or to Psalm 37 and read it, or my old stand by, Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Now you know what He would text to me, what would His text be to you?

  1. Very very TRUE!! Hebrews 13:2 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Good point!
