What do I do now?

Lewis Grizzard wrote a book entitled, “They Tore Out My Heart and Stomped That Sucker Flat”. It was a book in which he described different ways that your heart can hurt, or be broken emotionally and then he described his open-heart surgery and how his life could depend on a little pig, then it became literal.

I’ve had experience with several different ways to get my heart broken, first was when I fell in love, and felt that sick to my stomach feeling as my heart was torn out and stomped flat, it is not a fun feeling and initiated the first of my trust issues. Another time my heart was torn from my chest when my son was lying at the point of death and there was nothing I could do as he was rolled into the operating suite and I had to stop at the red line, this time my trust was wholly in God as I prayed that His spirit would go where I could not go and keep him safe. I’ve had heartbreak times with my daughter too, I say that having children is like having an operation to have your heart removed from the safety of your chest and planted on the outside where it is completely unprotected. There was the devastating heart stomping of losing my dad, then the heartbreak of watching my mother slowly slip from reality until she didn’t really know exactly who I was and didn’t realize that her sweetheart of seventy years had died. That was worse than actually losing her to death, at least then I knew she was safe with Jesus and my dad with the full knowledge of everything.

I have heard it said that a person died of a broken heart, that must be a terrible sadness. We give our heart to the Lord, the heart of the King is in the hand of the Lord, it is said that the heart is desperately wicked who can know it? The Psalmist said, ”Try my reigns (heart) and see if there be any wicked way in me”.

You have heartache, “What do you do now?”

Psalms 34:18 If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath. Give it all to Jesus, He’s the healer of broken hearts!

  1. I did not give up. I prayed and asked God if this was meant to be, to let it be….The ice in now in chipping away…some progress….
