Between the Devil and the Deep blue Sea

I have heard that when pilots fly into very cloudy or “soupy” conditions, they don’t know whether they are right side up or down. They have to completely trust their instruments of guidance to get them safely through the storm and back home. I think Moses must have felt that way when he spoke these words found in Exodus 14:13-14. Moses spoke to the people: “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and watch GOD do his work of salvation for you today. Take a good look at the Egyptians today for you’re never going to see them again. GOD will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your mouths shut!” As you go out today, some may feel like you are escaping the enemy camp, others like you are running straight into it. Whatever your status, you have to know that if God opened the Red Sea by the raising of Moses’ Rod, He has a miracle for YOU! Imagine the Children of Israel, camped at the edge of the sea, they hear Pharaoh’s army approaching, chariots and galloping horses coming closer, their certain death or return to slavery imminent! Suddenly Moses stood and raised the staff he carried, the sea opened, dry land for them to walk across to the other side! They started trooping across, young, old, animals all marching! I wonder if they didn’t fear the walls of water on either side of them, afraid the water would fall back over them and drown them all in it’s salty depths. The angel of the Lord was holding it back, but their eyes were not opened to see the Angelic being who stood there. Driven by fear and urgency to get across probably kept their feet moving in the right direction. As they reached the safety of the other side, Pharaoh’s army was entering in hot pursuit, the water walls began to fall, men, chariots and horses were all drowned and not one was spared! How does this apply to us? Exodus 14:15-16 GOD said to Moses: “Why cry out to me? Speak to the Israelites. Order them to get moving. Hold your staff high and stretch your hand out over the sea: Split the sea! The Israelites will walk through the sea on dry ground. Sometimes there is something WE have to do. Moses was asking for help and God told him to get up and hold his staff high! When Moses did that, the sea was split! Moses had already seen God’s power when he threw his staff on the ground and it became a serpent, God them told him to pick it up and the staff was restored to its former state. I find myself, often, saying to God, “Help me”, over and over again. It seems the sea of life is hovering over me and if I take one step out of place, the walls will crash in on me. The flood tide of our normal, everyday business seems overwhelming, then add in a member of the family becoming ill, or being hit with a financial problem and there we are, on the floor crying to God for help. 1Peter 5: 8-11 Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does. Your plan for the day, raise your hands, then Stand and see the Salvation of the Lord, He’s on your side and His GPS always works!
