Don’t repeat yourself!

Since Jesus told the disciples not to use “vain repetitions” I carefully think through what I am saying when I pray. Matthew 18: 18-20 “Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.” Back to the point, after I had finished praying for everyone I had promised to pray for, I started talking to God about myself and the words that came out of my mouth were as strange to me as if I were speaking in an unknown-tongue! When I don’t know how to pray I always just ask for a solution, but as I was praying today it was more than a solution I needed, I wanted direction, out-loud-no-doubt-God-spoken-direction! I heard myself saying, “God, when Jonah didn’t go where you wanted him to go you put him in the belly of a great fish and when he prayed to you and asked for mercy and offered the sacrifice of praise you let the fish spit him out right where you wanted him, I’m just asking you to spit me out in the place you want me to be!”

I would never have thought of that on my own, I do believe the Holy Spirit was trying to teach a little lesson to me, “Be willing to do what God wants you to do, to be spit out where He wants you to be without complaining and don’t forget to offer Him the sacrifice of thanksgiving!” Yeah, that one’s hard for me too, offering praise when you are going through the fire isn’t easy in the spirit or in the flesh. When I got home I was cooking when the toe of my sandal got caught under the Telfa pad in front of my stove, falling forward I landed palm down on the eye where I had been sautéing onions, yes my fingers were grilled and I didn’t feel like praising then either. Point: Whether you are going through the fire or flood in the spirit or burning your fingers on the stove, remember the prayer that Jonah prayed in chapter 2 verse 7 “When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; And my prayer went up to You, Into Your holy temple.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit! If you read my thoughts you will see that I am sometimes serious, at other times sappy or funny, occasionally I am sad and sentimental, but I am always sincere! I am a single mother who raised two children, born ten years apart and different sexes so first it was bows and dolls, pretty dresses and boys! When my son was born it was rough and tumble games, baseball, soccer, wrestling and girls! I am known for my "smile" and for my default answer to any situation, "no problem", which was something I didn't realize I did until it was pointed out to me! I am a moon watcher and a star gazer. I am astounded and feel so small knowing that every creature that has ever walked the face of this earth has gazed upon that same beautiful orb that my eyes can behold on any night when the earth is not wearing her cloak of clouds. My parents have made me the person that I am. Their love, veracity in all areas of life, humor and passion for their work and each other have given me hope that my life can actually be a happy one!
