People use words so carelessly, never thinking about how a harsh word can become a dagger that hangs up in the muscle of your heart and stays until you die or ask the Holy Spirit to remove it from you. A wrongly placed word can cause a “root of bitterness” to grow in your spirit. Hebrews 12:14-17 Work at getting along with each other and with God. Otherwise you’ll never get so much as a glimpse of God. Make sure no one gets left out of God’s generosity. Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time. Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God’s lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite. You well know how Esau later regretted that impulsive act and wanted God’s blessing—but by then it was too late, tears or no tears.
I looked up the word “fool“ and there were thirteen definitions, the number one was: a silly or stupid person; a person who lacks judgment or sense. You can find the Bible definition in Psalms 53:1 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” Matthew 5:22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.
The simple moral fact is that words kill. When we think of sin it usually involves the big ones, you know what they are, but we let ourselves indulge in the evil of gossip, calling each other names and ruining a person’s good reputation with a careless statement, fact or not. Remember that you can’t erase all the things you have said any more than you could rip open a feather pillow in front of a blowing fan and then find them all and replace them in the pillow casing.

I think it was Mark Twain that said “it is better to be quiet and let your friends think you are a fool than to speak and prove it!”
