What’s special about you?

Recently I received one of the most special compliments I have ever received; it put a smile on my face Clorox couldn’t scrub off!

In listening to different people talk about themselves, women and men alike, it seems that no one is really happy with the way they are in everything from the way they look to how they conduct their business. One problem is that even if you are happy with yourself, there are critics around you that try to change you into the “person you need to be.”

There are those of us who feel we are doing the best we can yet we still come up a little short of perfect. Matthew 5:48 “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”  We read that and, frankly, it can scare you just a little! You wonder, “How can I be perfect? I will NEVER be perfect!” We feel frustrated and sometimes hopeless! When you look at the verses above that particular verse you find out how you can be this perfect person, or at least a work in progress, V 47 “And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even tax collectors do so? This is the hard part: 1 Corinthians 13:3 says, “and though I give all my goods to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing (or just doesn’t matter).” This includes the person who thinks you ought to: lose weight, wear less make up, go to the places they want you to be, always do exactly what they want you to do, shun the same people that they don’t like, gossip about those “less than” or anything from there to in-between and on and on.

Take a look at yourself in the mirror and know that this is the body that you have, the face and eyes and hair that only you have! The only person that can control the things you are looking at in the flesh is you! To let yourself feel inferior to anyone is a sin not only against yourself but also against the God that made you exactly who you are.

God does ask the question, in Isaiah, “Who do you think you are to question how I made you?” (Paraphrased)  Look in the Word of God, which is the mirror of your soul, to see what you look like to Him. From what I know, we have to obey His commandments or we cannot say that we love Him, and His first and greatest commandment is that we love one another.

I wrote this to answer a request to explain what will send us to heaven or hell, in God’s eyes, not mans, so I hope that it helped!

When it comes down to it, no one can tell you what is right or wrong for you, you have to look in the Word and find out what God has to say about it. When you love Him then you will keep His commandments and you will become that “perfect person” that everyone around you seems to think you should be. Being good and not “sinning” is the easy part for me it’s the “love thing” that trips me up so please excuse me while I go work on myself! I must have the help of the Holy Spirit because He knows that I am a work in progress!

Now let me share the complement I received and I will pass it on to YOU, “remember, God created you exactly like He wanted you and you are one of a kind, and special, just like those one of a kind snow flakes.”
