So which one are you?

I’m the kind of person that counts my items before I go into an express lane that says, “10 items or less” and today when at Wal-Mart in the “20 items or less” line upon counting my items and finding I actually had 21 I put one back! OK that’s me. I wish everyone else was like that because I had to stop at another store because I forgot to buy honey and a ramekin to cook one muffin in, two items so I got in the “10 or less line” where a woman had her groceries for the whole week piled high in her cart. I wanted to be angry with her because I was tired and wanted to get home and pull off the usual things that come off the minute I walk through my own door, but instead I struck up conversations with people around me. I made comments to the woman who was in front of me with only one item, a box of chocolate chip cookies, and a lady that had stopped me in the spice aisle earlier to ask whether I make good gravy and when I answered yes she wanted to know how, I asked her what kind of chicken broth she had bought. Before I knew it the two of them were laughing and acting like they were having a good time, we were having a party when a lady with a store vest called to me, she opened another line so we could come through! So what’s the point? Maybe it’s if you find life has handed you a basket of lemons, make lemonade or as I did when I got home today, made a small lemon cake all for myself.

There are people that are thoughtful and others that are not, which person do you want to be? Don’t be the person in the “10 items or less” line with too may items, be the person that makes people laugh while they wait.

Proverbs 17:22 says it this way,” A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” Or as the Message translation says it, “A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and doom leave you bone-tired.”

Now I am wondering if the lady in the store vest was trying to get rid of us????
