Times they are a-changin

For all the years I was in school, every morning we stood and said the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, and for a time after we said the Pledge we quoted a Bible verse. This was a period of time that no ball games, or PTA meetings, were scheduled on a Wednesday night, why? Because everyone went to church, the Wednesday night prayer meeting and for most of us going was not optional, it was mandatory. There was no shopping on Sundays because everyone closed up for church, now the parking lot of the Walmart I pass on the way to church is crowded to the max! All stores are open every day of the week and alcohol can be bought on Sundays at your local grocery store or the liquor store right next door. Children were expected to obey their parents and when they didn’t they were punished for it and the parents didn’t have to worry about going to jail for abuse. Bob Dylan wrote the feeling of the time when he penned “Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command your old road is Rapidly agin’ Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand for the times they are a-changin ”

In Ecclesiastes chapter 3 the writer goes into detail about ‘seasons’ To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven, he then went on to enumerate all the ‘seasons’ in life. Everything is in constant motion, it’s the ebb and flow of life, and I am grateful for inventions that have made life easier for us all; that being said, there are some things that need to remain the same such putting our families first in love and care, being diligent in our work so we can earn an honest wage, being respectful of our elders, loving, and praying for our country, and praying to God to forgive our sins and heal our land. I’m not good with change if it’s not broke I don’t want to fix it just for the sake of change.

I know we things will never return to a simpler time but I am praying for us as a Nation, I want to remain a Christian nation, One Nation, Under God, Indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all !
