I want a Silver Lining

Recently as I was leaving the bustle of the grocery store I was arrested by the beauty of the sky. I realized that a car had stopped to let me cross so I waved them on, trying to capture the view with my phone’s camera. There were dark clouds with the sun shining from behind giving them the most astounding silver lining. Behind that, the sky was pink, blue and gold, no artist could ever imagine nor capture such beauty as God had displayed right there in front of me. My soul rejoiced and in my spirit I heard “It’s all about the silver lining”. When you are pregnant the last few weeks seem to last forever, but just when the pain from labor gets unbearable, the child comes into the world, kicking, screaming, hungry, and you forget everything except that precious person you are holding, that is your silver lining. Just before dawn it seems that the whole world is dark, then you see the sliver of sun as it pushes up the horizon and suddenly there is daylight. Noah and his family were on the Ark for many days past the 40 days of rain, then they saw the rainbow and dry land emerged. Whatever you are going through, no matter how hard or painful it seems, if there is life there is still hope.

Hebrews 12:1-2 Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. I pray your silver lining comes soon!
