Need a do-over?

Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new! It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?”

I have made a lot on mistakes in my life, call them learning experiences if you like I just call them lapses in judgment, believing a lie and acting on it or just being plainly stupid. Whatever label you put on these moments in time you probably don’t want to revisit them. I often say I would love to go back and start over but knowing what I know now, then I would have it all the way I want it with no mistakes, well that’s just not possible so forget about it. So now what do you do?

Toward the end of 2017 I heard so many people saying that it was the worst year ever and they were glad to see it in the rearview mirror, but unless they are doing something different this year than they did last year it will end up the same way, a total mess. It reminds me of a quote from Albert Einstein, who said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”

So when you are stuck in the same place with your wheels spinning and mud is splashing all over the place and you are not at a Mud Truck Rally, then you know it is time to get up and do something about yourself! You want to lose weight? Get off the couch and exercise, go on a diet, quit feeling sorry that nobody likes you the way you are and just determine that you will do it, not for a man/woman but for YOU! You are worth it! If you don’t desire to diet and exercise then like yourself just the way you and don’t give a flip what anyone thinks but God! You don’t have any money? Get off the sofa and find a job, and don’t tell me that there are no jobs available, it may not be the job you want but there are jobs that actually pay money! I knew a man that continually looked for a job that paid “six figures” while never applying himself to making himself worth six figures! You tired of the way your house looks? Get a paintbrush and go for it! Home Depot or Lowes are full of all kinds of goodies that don’t cost a fortune and when you make that step, you feel so much better and you get excited. I read that when a person is sitting in clutter it actually makes them depressed, so get up and throw something away!

Now I am going to read what I just wrote and take my own advice!
