We’ve changed!

For all the years I was in school, every morning we stood and said the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. There was also a time that after we said the Pledge, we quoted a Bible verse. This was a period of time that no ball games or PTA meetings, were scheduled on a Wednesday night, why? Because everyone went to church, back then called the “Wednesday night prayer meeting”. Before the week-end you had to make sure you had everything you needed because stores were closed and people went to Sunday School and church! Now stores are open every day of the week and when we pass a Walmart going to and from church on Sunday the parking lot is always crowded to the max! Children were expected to obey their parents and when they didn’t, they were punished for it and the parent didn’t have to worry about going to jail for abuse.

In 1964 Bob Dylan wrote the feeling of the time when he penned, “Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command your old road is Rapidly agin’ Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand for the times they are a-changin’. ” In Ecclesiastes chapter 3 the writer goes into detail about ‘seasons’, To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven, he then went on to enumerate all the ‘seasons’ in life.

Everything is in constant motion, it’s the ebb and flow of life, and I am grateful for inventions that have made life easier for us all; that being said, there are some things that need to remain the same such as putting our families first in love and care, being diligent in our work so we can earn an honest wage, being respectful of our elders, loving, and praying for our country, and praying to God to forgive our sins and heal our land.
