I said goodbye this morning to my granddaughter when she left to go the wedding venue to finish preparations of hair, make-up and finally donning the beautiful wedding gown selected so carefully to look like a Disney Princess, that she will achieve that is one thing I am very sure of as I type this note. I gave her some last words of advice as I held her close and felt tears on my cheek not knowing if they were hers or mine. My final words to her as she marries is the best advice you can give to a young couple beginning their life together, it is found in Chapter 13 of 1st Corinthians, I put it here from the Message translation.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
I feel a little jealous of her youth and excitement and hope she treasures each moment as it happened, they get away from us so quickly.
I answer this in private. I wish my mother in 1969 had been a mother like you. I know she did the best she could me being her 7th, but tears flowed down on my cheeks when I read your thoughts…just saying!!! ❤️ 🌹❤️
