The definition for inspirationin theology is, 1) A divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul. 2) The divine quality of the writings of a person so influenced.I am inspired by the awesomeness of the sky. I walked out of the grocery store yesterday and the sky was so stunning that I took a picture, with my IPhone but the picture didn’t do it justice. I am inspired by the majesty of the huge trees that line our streets, the way geese fly in formation as they honk signals to one another. I found the flying V the geese use very interesting so I looked up the reason for it, I knew there had to be one and I found two. First, it conserves their energy! Each bird flies slightly above the bird in front of him, resulting in a reduction of wind resistance. The birds take turns being in the front, falling back when they get tired. In this way, the geese can fly for a long time before they must stop for rest. The authors of a 2001 Nature article stated that pelicans that fly alone beat their wings more frequently and have higher heart rates than those that fly in formation. It follows that birds that fly in formation glide more often and reduce energy expenditure (Weimerskirch, 2001). The second benefit to the V formation is that it is easy to keep track of every bird in the group. Flying in formation may assist with the communication and coordination within the group. Fighter pilots often use this formation for the same reason. God created those birds intelligent and they have an inner knowledge of the right thing to do. If we looked after each other the way the birds take care of their own, I think there would be a lot less casualties among Christian Soldiers! I thought about how God hears us when there must be thousands of people all praying at once, from soldiers calling out to Him who are in dangerous situations, to people in hospitals praying for held, and yet, He hears me!
Isaiah 65:24 “It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.” I have found that to be true in my own life.
Matthew 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
Our awesome God created us to know the right thing to do, like the geese and we are more important than the sparrows so we know He hears us before we even call! Now that’s what I call Inspiration!
