What’s New Now?

Newton’s Law states that for every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction. He also realized, after watching an apple fall from a tree possibly in the moonlight, that the same thing that made the apple fall down, held the moon up in the sky! We hear new theories every day, there are even some accepting that time travel has been “proven” and there is a society of people are taking your investment money so that when you really do travel to the future you will have money to spend! God’s Law states, Romans 6:23, that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. But if we believed that I think some might be living a little differently, just thinking out loud here.

Matthew 7:12 “Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get”

People love to gossip and listen to gossip especially if it involves sexual exploits of another spiritual leader or politician, and that makes me wonder if people love hearing all the dirt because it makes the things they have done seem less significant?  A lot of times there are embarrassing things I have done or said that will go through my mind and I get embarrassed all over again, so I am not likely to judge anyone else for anything, I figure their own shame will eventually catch up with them if they are guilty!

Matthew 7:15-20 “Be wary of false preachers who smile a lot, dripping with practiced sincerity. Chances are they are out to rip you off some way or other. Don’t be impressed with charisma; look for character. Who preachers are is the main thing, not what they say. A genuine leader will never exploit your emotions or your pocketbook. These diseased trees with their bad apples are going to be chopped down and burned.

This scripture tells us that there will be false preachers and that we should not look at their personality and believe them, but instead to look at their works and the fruit of their work. One thing my dad always told us is that there can never be a counterfeit of something unless there is an original! Who would take a fake $20 if there were not real ones out there somewhere? We just can’t let anyone stand between us, and our relationship with God, if you do, then they are closer to God than you are!

Even though King David, the Psalmist, was a murderer and an adulterer, he loved God and when he was desperate for God to help him, he wrote Psalm 51:10 Don’t look too close for blemishes, give me a clean bill of health. God, make a fresh start in me. He asked for God’s mercies, and God never let him down! It was said that David was a “man after God’s own heart“!

On the positive side, there are over 3000 promises to us in the Bible, which is God’s Word. Jesus promised us that He would be with us even until the end of the world, eternal life; He promised that He would return to this earth and take us with Him to the Father, where we would live for eternity. If I believe all these good promises, then I have to also believe that I need to live according to His Word, and in Him I am blessed!
