Reverie

We are in the first days of the Fall season with lots of holidays in front of us, the year has passed so quickly I can hardly catch my breath. Yesterday an old song popped up on my playlist, “Yesterday“.  As I listened I was transported back to hearing the original on my radio as a teen, WXIA. Then I thought of the first time I heard Tom Jones wailing asking the question, “What’s new pussycat?” and listened as Dionne Warwick talked about going to “San Jose” then I went a little further into the past and let some “smoke get in my eyes“, I finished the reverie by letting “memories light the corners of my mind” !

Anytime you let your mind wander it will always take you down the path of least resistance and sometimes that leads us to the self-destructive path of depression and sadness! What should you do?

In Isaiah chapter 43:18-19 we are given this instruction:  Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

So while this month is still new and we are hoping for fresh cool mornings, let us  try to forget the past and go on into the future with the hope that God gives us and think about this, Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
