It is all too often that we are disappointed in someone we thought was great, it’s so nice to hear about someone who earned his or her “wings” right here on earth..
Love is a powerful force. Love is stronger than death. However death cannot stop love no matter how hard it tries, it cannot separate people from love.
I remember the first time I felt adult love, I can tell you what I was wearing, where I was and I feel the same flush come over my face as I type this, and that, my friend, was a very long time ago, that’s how strong that love still is. If we had more of the agape love of God for our fellow man, we would not see the crimes we see in the news, and we wouldn’t see abused spouses, children, and our loved ones that have to be in a facility for elder care would be safe from being tossed into their bed like a sack of potatoes.
How have we come so far from the love that Jesus shed on the cross, yes I said love not blood, because he had to feel that love for us to be able to lay down His life for our sins. John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. When Jesus was asked what was the greatest commandment, Mark 12:31 Jesus said, “The first in importance is, ‘Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.’ And here is the second: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment that ranks with these.”
You may not be able, nor have the desire, to go and do volunteer work at the VA Hospital, one of the Brian Centers for the elderly, or a hospice, but you can love and serve where you are. It is difficult when you are faced with threats in the work place, as one of my readers was this week, or discrimination, another reader, but if you are waiting for an apology from any of these, don’t waste your time. It has to be enough to know that God knows and that He respects your actions of love toward the unlovable.
These lyrics written by Joe Cocker say it well: Love lift us up where we belong Where the eagles fly on a mountain high Love lift us up where we belong Far from the world below Where the clear winds blow.
I can feel protected by the love He gives me, this verse from Song of Solomon 2:4 is precious to me, it says: “He has taken me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love.”
