Have you been wounded?

How many times, in your life, have you been injured? I’ve had some pretty serious ones, the first and mot life threatening was getting thrown through the windshield of a car, that resulted in a long scar on my scalp; I was hit in the mouth by a see-saw swing which left a scar between lower lip and chin; two glasses exploded in my hand nearly amputating my left thumb and made a long scar; there have been multiple burns and cuts, my point?  If every cut, scrape and burn I had ever gotten still showed, I would look like the Bride of Frankenstein, however our bodies were made to heal. When my son tore the ACL in his left knee he was operated on and given a donor muscle to replace the torn one and it is held in place with titanium screws and is serving him well, it has become his own. When God created us from the dust of the earth He blew His own breath into our nostrils, we are His. We were meant to subdue, to dominate the earth and all that was in it, and we sold ourselves short for the lust of the eye for the forbidden fruit. We were able to walk with God, to hear and see Him. When Satan deceived Eve, God told him he would crawl on his belly and eat the dust of the earth, dust of the earth, right, is that US?  Giving up our rights meant sickness, death and pain, but our bodies retained the ability to heal itself. I watched the flesh of my thumb grow together, my skin knit together so beautifully that you really have to look close to even see the scar. Point, we were made to heal. Jesus healed the blind, made the lame man walk, cured the leper, cast out demons and raised the dead!

John 14:12 “Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can’t believe that, believe what you see—these works. The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do. I’ve seen many miracles of physical healing, but harder to see is the healing of the “heart”. Psalm 34:18 If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath. Psalm 147:3 He heals the heartbroken and bandages their wounds. Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.

Even Jesus wept, over Jerusalem and at the death of His friend Lazarus but when you let sadness and problems define you, you have moved out of the Garden all over again. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind! 2 Timothy 1:7

Take your wounded, broken heart, to God, He’ll mend it and you won’t even see where the scars were! Just “wrap it all, in the rags of your life, and lay it at the cross.” Don’t hide from Him, He knows, He heals, God gave you His best gift, the gift of His own Son, let’s celebrate His birth with Joy and new commitment!
