Are you strong?

The song we used to sing came to mind a few moments ago, I have a recording of my dad singing it, “I am weak but Thou art strong, Jesus keep me from all wrong, I’ll be satisfied as long as I walk, let me walk, close to Thee.”

Reading through the New Testament and walking with Jesus as he taught, healed the sick, ate and fellowshipped with the disciples makes me feel like I know Him up close and personal. Can I be like Him?

He was tempted constantly for forty days while His body was starved for food and he didn’t yield to any temptation that Satin threw at Him. I probably would have caved with that first temptation when Satan told Jesus to turn the stones into bread so that he could eat. What He did do was to through the Word of God back at Satan. For everything Satan offered he answered, “It is written” and then quoted the scripture to him.

In the Message translation, the phrase “strong God” is used 138 times. If we are made in His imageL Genesis 1:27-28 God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.” God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”

That being the case wouldn’t you think we would also be strong?

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

You may be a spiritual ninety-eight pound weakling but a long as you depend on your strong God you have nothing to fear!

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

I. Am. Strong!
