The comment was that he had enjoyed a peaceful time with family, food and relaxation, how was my day? My answer was that as adventurous as I used to be I find that now I enjoy a more peaceful, shoeless afternoon, then he said it: “Sometimes the familiar is just what we need. Both the peaceful and the adventurous have a place, but the more peace, inner peace, I get the less of other things I need to be looking for.”I sat back and looked at my computer screen as if I had just seen an egg hatch, that was it.
We are so busy looking for entertainment and something to do because we are, and this is one word that if I neverhear it again it will be too soon, bored! We miss so many things like the bunnies that play in my yard, or the hawks that race around in my trees looking for food, the two Rose of Sharon bushes that is blooming outside my windows one with white the other with purple blooms, or the snoring of an old dog peacefully asleep after barking way too much! In our spiritual manwe cannot afford to get bored and start looking for something new that’s when we get into trouble. We need to stick with the Gospel found between the books of Genesis and the Revelation. Other people’s ideas are just that, ideas. I will listen to anything you have to say if you feel it is from God, but if it doesn’t line up with the Word, I don’t receive it into my spirit, and neither should you. People can come up with weird doctrines but I don’t want to “drink the Kool-Aid” for any one!
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God that he was born of a virgin, Mary, by the Holy Spirit. I believe that he was crucified as atonement for my sins, that he died and rose again on the third day and that He went up into the clouds to be with the Father until His return “in like manner“! I know He answers prayer and that there is nothing that is impossible with Him! I am comfortable with that, it is the truth found within the confines of the Word!
The scripture came to my mind from Jeremiah 6:16-17 God’s Message yet again: “Go stand at the crossroads and look around. Ask for directions to the old road, the tried-and-true road. Then take it. Discover the right route for your souls. But they said, ‘Nothing doing. We aren’t going that way. ‘I even provided watchmen for them to warn them, to set off the alarm. But the people said, ‘It’s a false alarm. It doesn’t concern us.’
When you have your house alarm set you can relax, knowing that if an intruder tries to come in, it will sound!
Now get comfortable, kick off your shoes, settle down, get some comfort food and know that you are protected! Psalm 91:11-12 Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling.
So much horror in the news don’t you need a little more peace in your life?
