Hind site, what does it mean anyway?

I’ve heard, and used a phrase I decided to look up to find the full meaning it’s 20-20 Hindsight. The meaning is the perfect understanding of an event after it has happened. There are many things in my life that I have had this after vision about and knowing the truth after the fact has never done me any good, whatsoever! The only way hindsight does us any good is if we learn from our mistakes so that we never make that particular mistake again! We beat ourselves up about things we didn’t know. It would be like trying to stand an infant on his feet and then getting angry at him because he couldn’t maintain his balance and walk!

If you knew you were going to have a wreck, it wouldn’t be called an accident, right? So we have wrecks in our lives and we have to pick up the pieces and carry on.

Let’s look at some mistakes made by people we think should have known better!

King David made a big one when he lusted after Uriah’s wife Bathsheba, and had him killed so he could have her for himself. Pretty bad, wouldn’t you say? But, what he did right was to be contrite and ask for forgiveness. Psalm 34:18 If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath. Psalm 51:17 Going through the motions doesn’t please you; a flawless performance is nothing to you. I learned God-worship when my pride was shattered. Heart-shattered lives ready for love don’t for a moment escape God’s notice. David was forgiven and called a “man after God’s own heart“.

Samson laid his head in the lap of the beautiful sweet talking enemy and had a haircut that changed his life! The soldiers came to take him and he didn’t even know that the Spirit of God had departed from him, he shook himself and found his strength was all gone, I wonder if he turned and saw his luscious locks laying on the floor before he realized what had happened. He was taken, his eyes were punched out then he was tied to a grinding stone like a mule, and served as entertainment for his enemies! The story ends when, hair all grown back, he asks God for forgiveness and takes out more enemies than he had ever conquered in his whole life. Rebellious Jonah cried from the belly of the great fish Jonah 2:7 As my life was slipping away, I remembered the Lord. And my earnest prayer went out to you in your holy Temple. When he repented, God forgave him and the fish spit him out on the shore of the place he was told to go, in the first place!

What have you done? Have you killed a person to take their spouse, broken a sacred vow to God and “cut your (spiritual) hair, rebelled against the Plan of God for your life and run the other way?

Whatever you have done wouldn’t be worse than any of these things, and even if it were, God is still in the business of forgiving us our trespasses, the way we forgive those who have trespassed against us. I slipped that one in on you, didn’t I? Yes, that is the condition of our own forgiveness, and I am telling you from personal experience that it is the hardest thing to do. We have all sinned and come short of the Glory of God, what’s different about you?
