…one second before…

Something happened to me this week…every time I pass the place where it happened I remember it and think that if I had known one second before it happened…could I have prevented it?

This morning at 6:18 I passed the place and again the thought…

So then I remembered a site I happened upon and the title was, you guessed it, One Second Before.

It was a collection of pictures the photographers had serendipitously gotten of incidents a second before it happened. One was a crowd shot taken at a bull fight! The bull was leaping into the crowd where one person was gored by his horns and died.

It was like passing a horrendous car crash, you don’t want to look…but you do.

I kept looking at that photo and thinking that if that person, who was cheering and smiling, had known what the next second would bring they would have moved, gotten out of the way of that deadly horn.

You’re right if you guessed that I continued to scroll … it was macabre…I’m not proud of it, but as I looked I kept having the thought …”if only they had known”.

As I continued to drive I decided to blot out those horrific thoughts by listening to my Bible app, so using Siri, I asked to hear the Word of Jesus as he gave the Sermon on the Mount. The Word was helping to soothe me and then the last verse, Chapter 6 verse 34 was playing and I knew why I had decided to listen to that particular scripture…I prayed and put my life in the hands of Jesus and continued to the sweet home where I took chicken nuggets, biscuits, one apple juice, one milk and a 12 count nugget, for their lunch, to my six year old twin grandsons… it will be a good day and I will not worry or be afraid…

Here is the scripture that soothed by anxieties, let it soothe yours also…

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:34

and then, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

Give your life to Jesus so that if you face your final second you will know that you will be safe in the arms of Jesus. He is coming soon, get ready for Him.
