I’m thankful I can read…

IMG_NEWDadPopOK all you turkey eaters I have cooked all day and to tell you the truth I was going to let the devotion slide for tonight, I mean even if I write it who is going to take the time to read it, right? However, something happened today in the midst of cornbread, broccoli, cranberries and the mess on my counter that made me so angry that I tried to decide whether to call a lawyer or one of the “dedicated and determined” newsmen who can make life hell for some perpetrator. I am not especially litigious and lawyers cost money, the newsman might want to come and talk to me and then I would have to comb my messy hair and paint this old barn, couldn’t be on TV without full makeup! I started to look up the number for the corporate office of the company of which I am about to tattle tale but decided to bring it to you instead. I really don’t want to get anyone in serious trouble or make them lose their job however when you think of what the consequences might have been it is scary, I don’t want it to happen to someone who might be as alert as I am because it could result in death.

I took my mother to the doctor yesterday and she was diagnosed with an infection that requires antibiotics and since her blood pressure has been so high lately he prescribed a low dosage blood pressure medicine and I got them filled at the Kroger Pharmacy. Since it was evening when I got them filled yesterday I gave her an antibiotic and thought I would wait until this morning to give her the blood pressure medicine. This morning I picked up the bottle and the instructions read “Take four tablets by mouth every day”. That surprised me and I read it over again then reached for the phone and called the pharmacy, punched various numbers waiting for a human and finally heard a voice say “Hello”. After I gave him mother’s name and birth date I told him what the prescription was and read the instructions to him. He sputtered and said “I am changing this in the computer right now so that if you get a refill it will say to take only one a day,” then he repeated slowly and deliberately and a slightly louder tone “Only ONE a day, don’t give her more than ONE!” I told him I wasn’t an idiot that I realized something was wrong which was why I had called him!
Now here’s my thought, my mother has a hard time distinguishing things and there are a lot of people just like her who don’t have some nosy busy-body like me to mind their business, if she had been left on her own to take her pills it would have killed her to take four of those in one day! I AM ANGRY! If that were one of your parents you would be also!
When you can’t trust your doctor or your pharmacist it is a terrible thing! People are so distracted between answering text messages on their phone or talking behind their hand to their fellow employees they aren’t paying attention to things that might be life or death!

When is the last time you went through a fast food drive thru and got home to find that part of your order was missing? Happens to us all the time! Chick Fil A, McDonalds, even the local Mexican Food place, Paco’s is guilty. I will order from one of those places when I am on my last legs and to cook after I get home would take so long that everyone would be screaming bloody murder so as it is already a last resort, to get home and find part of your order missing makes you completely frustrated.

Then there is dealing with Medicare trying to get the “D” plan for mother because hers lapsed when my dad died and I have been paying 700.00 a month for medication, then have that said insurance person tell you that you will be assessed a fee for the months you didn’t have it! I felt like the trailer of a movie I saw advertised called “Falling Down” where Michael Douglas orders an Egg McMuffin from McDonalds and it is a few minutes past the time they stopped serving breakfast. As I remember he goes and gets a shotgun and causes mayhem! Well not to worry sweetheart, I am not quite to that point yet but give me a minute, I am about to get there!

OK, deep breath, NOW, Happy Thanksgiving, I am smiling big and asking you to pay attention to what you are doing what ever it may be and let’s all just love each other with the love of the Lord! I’m done! πŸ™‚

and life goes on and on until we leave this world and travel to our home on high. We all write our own history, through the highs and lows one thing remains, if we have chosen the gift of Salvation from our Lord and Savior we have all of His promises. We stand on the solid rock and we cannot be moved. Praise His Holy Name! Love your photos today; brought back wonderful family memories.

Glad you caught it. Now you understand why I literally preach to everyone check their meds every time you pick up a refill or new one. You understand the reason why we have problems as people just don’t pay that close attention. Think about having 65 people to care about each month & you will understand why I became such a monster over this problem. Can’t blame you for getting angry. They(drug store) will admit the mistake & simply say “We are sorry”. I always seriously wondered if it goes nay further than that one person.
Sounds like you got Mr Turkey & Mres Trimmings all taken care of for today. Wishing you a great day and may God fill you with His peace, love & joy this day.
