To Flu or Not to Flu?

257844_173151136080521_100001569064996_458172_6964152_oThe flu has hit our household with a solid lick! We are not out but for now we definitely down! Funny thing is that my daughter told me last week that she had a vivid dream that she was laying back in the recliner and my dad walked behind her, lay his hand on her head and said “She has a temperature of 101″ and just walked away into nothingness. At the time there were no signs of sickness and I told her she needed to watch out that the dream was probably a warning. Sunday night when I walked into the house returning from doing our Christmas concert at another church I was worried about how mother had gotten along without me but when I saw Cherita’s face I froze,” Have you been crying?” she sniffled and answered that she was so sick and had a temperature of 101. I asked her if she remembered “Phobby telling her that in her dream” and her mouth fell open, she had not remembered it until I reminded her!
What did that mean? It just shows me that God is aware of all our problems even before they happen. So if He knows it ahead of time and lets you be warned in a dream why doesn’t He just stop it? Simple, I don’t know! I know that He knows the beginning from the end, but He doesn’t interfere with our free will and when she had the warning it is my thought that she should have taken precautions by making sure she was staying super hydrated, taking extra vitamin C and getting the proper amount of rest. None of that happened, she was staying up until very late and then having to be at her work to open the school by 6:45 AM, dieting and not getting proper nutrition, of course her body responded by getting good and sick! I looked at her lying on the couch; nose and cheeks bright red and something came back to my own memory! This is the date, December 17, the year I was pregnant with her that I caught the flu from a girl that I was helping to plan a wedding! I went into labor because I was so sick and had labor pains all night, I was only six months and if she had been born would probably not have survived. I was sitting in an old green, plastic covered recliner with a trashcan sitting beside me but it wasn’t any help when the diarrhea set in! My dad came into the living room and laid his big hand on my stomach and commanded that the labor pains cease and they did! I went to my OBGYN the next morning to get checked out and he told me the baby had moved into the birth canal and that it would be born in January, “Impossible!” I proclaimed, “This baby couldn’t be born until its time!” He was very doubtful and told me he would probably be seeing me at the hospital in a few hours. That was December 18…just FYI I had to be induced into labor on March 11, two weeks AFTER my actual due date! I would say that was one prayer that got answered, wouldn’t you?
The Bible tells us that our body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit that we were bought with a price, we are responsible to take care of it in the best way we can! When we don’t then we suffer the consequences, period! We want to eat what we want, anytime we want it, abuse our bodies by not getting enough rest and exercise, taking recreational drugs until we get addictions, and then do dumb things like driving carelessly and not using a seat-belt, taking chances by living foolishly and then blame God when we don’t stay in perfect health! There are exceptions that we have nothing to do with like cancer or other dreadful things and in those cases we take our needs to God and ask Him to be our healer. ”
Isaiah 53:5 … the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him,
that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He took the punishment, and that made us whole.
Through his bruises we get healed.
Take care of yourself and have a very Merry Christmas!
