There was a commercial advertising a movie featuring young male dancers, strippers, if you will. I looked at it and then looked at my granddaughter, she seemed very pleased with what she saw! I said “Does that interest you?” “What?” she brought herself out of a fog to answer, “That movie, are those guys good-looking to you?” “Yes of course Mammy, Matthew McConnaughey is good-looking! Why? Don’t you think they’re good-looking?” I smiled at her and told her that once upon a time I may have thought so, now they looked like boys, not men. Give me a more seasoned face, Clint Eastwood, or the older face of Robert Redford and I’ll smile. My dad loved sardines, right out of the can, my mother wants nutty chocolate ice cream with toasted almonds, he would eat his sardines with a piece of raisin toast (don’t ask), while she would have her ice cream and they were both happy!
So what is the point? There is a saying that opinions are like navels, everybody has one, even though some are innies and some are outies, still all navels. Everyone is entitled to think whatever they like without the interference of an outside force, got that settled in your mind and heart?
OK, so you know I am a fair person, you like olives, I don’t. You can eat all you want but don’t force me to try them, and don’t try to force your beliefs on me, mine cannot be compromised. Some times I read things on the social media that upsets me but I don’t respond, I do have a right to speak here in my own forum. One of the most important things you need to be sure of is what you believe! I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, I believe that He was born of the virgin Mary who conceived by the Holy Spirit of God, I believe that He lived in this world, was tempted of Satan and did not sin, I believe that He died on the cross for our sins and that He was placed in a grave and rose again on the third day to live eternally and that He will return to take those that are looking for Him to live with Him in glory.
John 1: 1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 14: 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” I believe that you have to believe on Him to be saved as verses 12 and 13 of chapter 1 says: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Matthew 7: 21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
I don’t know why it has become a point of argument as to who will go to heaven or be saved, regenerated or whatever you want to call it, when the Word says it all so clearly. Yes Jesus died for all, He will not refuse one person who comes to Him and confesses his sins, but if anyone tries to get in under the fence or by another name or just thinking they are saved when they have never invited Him to come into their heart it simply will not happen.
The Word speaks for itself, no argument here and here is my thought: I accept Jesus as my personal Savior, my Lord and my God in Him I trust, period, if I am wrong I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Be blessed, think about exactly what it is that you believe and don’t be afraid to say it out loud, I just did!
