I believe in Miracles

She was on the Johnny Carson Late Show one night and I couldn’t wait to see my favorite lady of faith and my favorite male entertainer, together! I was anxious to see how she would deal with Johnny, I hoped he would be respectful of her, and he was. Other comedians loved to imitate her slow, drawn out way of saying things. There was no need to worry for her as she handled herself beautifully. Then Johnny popped the question, “Why doesn’t everyone you pray for get healed?” She turned her face and her charming smile fully on Johnny and answered, “I don’t know Johnny, but it’s the first question I am going to ask Jesus when I see Him!” That was the end of that, as my funny Johnny had no answer for this!

I thought of the answer she gave when, while my dad was in the hospital, I slipped into the room of a lady that was terminally ill and prayed for her. A few days later I went back up there to see how she was doing and one of the nurses told me that the lady had died. I was very sad. On the other hand, when we checked my dad into the hospital on that Saturday night, the doctors gave us no hope of him going home! When we took him home on Tuesday morning, the doctor that declared him as “passing” on Sunday morning, told us that his extremely fast healing was only due to a MIRACLE! Well yes of course, we already knew that!

The verses that my dad used to have to whole church quote every service, for years was Matthew 18:19-20, “Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.

Jesus said it, and I believe it to be true, all the prayers that went up for him was what brought the miracle to pass!

While going through his office this past week trying to decide what to throw away and what to preserve I found an old newspaper, dated December 6, 1992, that the family of a lady had sent to my dad. In 1953 he had gone into this ladies house, in Daisy, Tennessee, to pray for her because she was dying of cancer of the throat and stomach. He handed her his Bible and quoted that very scripture to her, said a prayer and left. The story, which came to him from her husband later, was this; She was unable to eat or drink anything by mouth because of her cancer, she had been sent home to die. Her husband would bring a tray of food, from the cafeteria, everyday to eat lunch by her side. That day, that my dad had gone in and prayed for her, he went in with his tray and she asked for a sip of his tea. She had been unable to swallow anything and when she tried to swallow the liquid would just gurgle in her throat and come back up. But this day she took a sip of his tea, and then another then drained the glass, she asked for a bite of his food, and ended up cleaning up his entire lunch! The article sent to him with the above date showed a picture of her with her family, celebrating her 90th birthday! Her family remembered to give God the glory.

Why was she healed when someone else was not? Like Kathryn, I don’t know the answer to that. I just know that God does perform them and I am happy to receive at His hand without question!

I’m thinking that for my dad’s life to be spared at the young age of 93, there must have been 1) a lot of prayer or 2) Something is left undone that he has to do and God wouldn’t let him check out till his job was done and he gave him two more years letting him finish his course on May 8, 2013.

If we all stick together we will be able to over come anything because of the power of agreement!

Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

As long as we have agreement in prayer, we have all the tools we need for our miracle!

I Believe!
