It is not easy to lay down the life you have and start all over again even when life, as you know it has been a struggle! There have been many who have stayed with a partner who was abusive, mentally and/or physically, because they were afraid to step out and start over. If you are in that position, realize that it is not God’s will for you to live under anyone’s thumb or to put up with bad behavior or destructive habits. Sometimes we are yanked out of our comfort zone but, after some adjustments, find ourselves much happier and maybe more to the center of God’s perfect will for our life!
A great example of someone who stepped out of his comfort zone into a completely changed life is Moses! He was raised in the lap of luxury as the heir to the throne of Egypt and then had face the choice to recognize his own heritage or to stay in the comfort zone living in the palace of the Pharaoh. He chose to follow the hard path of identifying with his own people, which led him into the wilderness where he heard the voice of God speaking to him from the burning bush, which led him to bring deliverance of his people, the Children of Israel, out of slavery in Egypt! He led them following the cloud by day and being protected by the fire at night, until they reached the Promised Land.
Abraham, by faith, left his home headed for an unknown destination where he would receive his inheritance and fathered a son when he was too old, and his wife Sarah was barren!
There was a time that my parents left the comfort of an organization, where they had the assurance of a church and a pension upon retirement, to follow the plan of God. They had no idea where the path would lead them but after “wandering in the wilderness” for a little while, ended up back here in our own “promised land”, Atlanta, where they were able to realize their dream of having a congregation of their own to love and care for.
Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. When we read that chapter verses 11-14, we find that if we call, pray, seek and search for God with all our heart He WILL be found. Believe that He wants good things for you and has a plan for your life.
We can boast that we have wisdom, strength or even wealth and though these things are wonderful they are temporary. Only knowing and understanding God has any life-changing eternal value! The Lord delights in our knowing His loving-kindness, justice, and righteousness. One important thing to remember is your need to prioritize the things you value, and cultivate dynamic devotion by placing God first!
Matthew 6:32-34,For your heavenly father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
What is the lesson here? 1. God has plans for our lives so 2. Put Him first and 3. Don’t worry about what you need because God already has the list. 4. He will take care of us because He has promised us a future and a hope, yea!!!
Learn to “conversate” with God, you will find that it is a two-way conversation, you talk and then stop and listen to what He has to say to you!
As I said up front, it takes guts to live, but, you “can do all things through Christ who gives you strength” Philippians 4:13! Be blessed in your comings and goings today, Pray, put God first and then see what He has planned for you!
