There’s a forest there? I only saw the tree!

amazing-sunsets-everyThis evening something happened that made me think of the phrase “You can’t see the forest for the trees”. I needed a napkin so I walked over to the place where I thought they were and I saw straws, ketchup, various kinds of drinks and ice but no napkins! I went to the counter and asked the server for a napkin which she happily supplied, then I turned around and saw, not one but two containers with letters three inches high in bright yellow that said, “NAPKINS” right where I had been looking! Yes I felt foolish that I had looked right at them without seeing them even though they were right there as plain as a spotlight shining into a dark room! I do get a little problem that I call “hysterical blindness” when I am looking for something and sometimes it takes “fresh eyes” to see it for me, and yes that has happened more than once!

So many times our problems seem so large, we are staring at them up close and don’t notice that the solution is close at hand and we tend to pull into ourselves and shut out those that might be able to help us! The One we should never shut out is God because He knows it all.

There is a song I love to hear I want to share with you, it’s called “So I Wouldn’t Let Go.” The words have suited my life many times, it says, “I almost let go. I felt like I just couldn’t take life anymore. My problems had me bound depression weighed me down, But God held me close, so I wouldn’t let go. God’s mercy kept me, so I wouldn’t let go. I almost gave up. I was right at the edge of a breakthrough but couldn’t see it, the devil really had me; but Jesus came and grabbed me, and He held me close, so I wouldn’t let go. God’s mercy kept me, so I wouldn’t let go. So I’m here today because God kept me. I’m alive today, only because of His grace. Oh, He kept me, God kept me, He kept me, so I wouldn’t let go.”

Psalm 3:3-4 But you, GOD, shield me on all sides; You ground my feet, you lift my head high; With all my might I shout up to GOD, His answers thunder from the holy mountain. KJV says, “You are the lifter of my head!”

Yes, he propped up my leaning side by lifting my head! Sometimes we get to leaning towards anger, leaning toward bitterness, leaning toward hatred, leaning toward cussing, leaning toward a lot of things that we shouldn’t instead of the One who can really help, so we need to pray, ‘Lord, prop us up on our leaning side, so we will stand straight and tall again, to glorify the Lord.’

As a woman who has given birth twice “au naturale”, I can tell you that the worst pains, the ones that make you think you will die if they don’t stop, come right before the baby is born, suddenly the pain is gone and you are filled with love and joy and not thinking about or remembering the pain! I know it is cliché but it is true, the darkest hour comes just before the dawn, then all the darkness is dispelled!

You might be right on the edge of your own breakthrough so get your nose off the tree and see the forest! Don’t give up; don’t give in, definitely a break-through not a breakdown!

Beware Satan; this is a No Quitter Zone!
