Angels watchin’ over me!

mary-and-angel-john-lautermilchAfter coming to a complete stop today at a four-way stop, which has a flashing red light, I pulled into the intersection to make a left turn, and that was when it happened.

You read a promise like the one in Psalm 91: 9-12

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,

Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

No evil shall befall you,

Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

For He shall give His angels charge over you,

To keep you in all your ways.

In their hands they shall bear you up,

Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

OK so you read that promise that says that He gives His angels charge over us to keep us in all of our ways and we just let it go right over our head as if it were fiction or just something the writer said to fill space on a page, but I have always taken that promise very seriously and today proved my point.

I was so frightened that I’m still getting over it! There is a flashing light on our street where Nickajack and Fontaine Roads cross. Fontaine comes off of the EW Connector. I came to a full stop and there was no one else on either side of me, I pulled into the middle of the intersection and suddenly there was a white car coming at me at full speed showing no signs of stopping! I was already in the middle, didn’t have time to think about what to do when all of a sudden my mind slowed down and I was thinking, “I didn’t know this is how I was going to die, who is going to tell my sister that I will not be at the meeting, who is going to tell my son and daughter that I am dead?” It’s funny how it seems you have hours of conversation with yourself in what really is just split seconds. As he got to me I had my foot on the brake and my hand on the horn he swerved to his left going around me just missing my by inches and then past me onto the grass median still swerving and back onto Fontaine going away from me. I was so stunned I couldn’t move for what seemed an interminable time, my hand still on the horn and my foot firmly planted on the brake! I was shaken and suddenly gripped with a head splitting headache. I had thought I was ready to die but that was a very close call and I felt I needed to live, maybe the Lord just taught me a lesson!

I am safe, I went on to the meeting where I was the speaker and it was a wonderful success thanks be to God for sending His angels who do have “charge over me to keep me in all my ways!”

  1. So happy God sent is angels to watch over you. You can leave us just yet. God still has work for you to do, He knows your first day and your last, so we don’t have to worry. Right !! Love you always – – Roselee

  3. Our God is certainly an AWESOME God. I wish I knew a “bigger” word than AWESOME to describe Him but I don’t have one. :o) I am so thankful the “He keeps us from dangers seen and unseen” as Bishop Daddy said and I am sure still says when He prays now.

  4. Hello! I am glad you are ok. I am writing this because the same exact thing happened to me on Sunday at the same exact intersection! The car came out of nowhere and completely totaled my car! I am ok but really battered. I would like to petition the city to put those little bumps in that make noise to warn people a stop is coming. do you have any idea how to get this done? Apparently this has happened many times at that intersection. Thanks for your post!
