Who is the greatest Super Hero?

I still love the Super Heroes, Superman is at the top of the list but they are all there, even the Hulk, green as he is I still love him.  Recently I have spent an entire evening trying to watch the Avengers with my grandson! He saw it in the theater but couldn’t wait for it to come out on DVD so that I could watch it with him. There were many interruptions but we finally got to the “War” and the Avengers defeated the enemies from outer space! Wow, what a fight! Good won over evil, now that’s my kind of flick right there!

So many times in our everyday lives it seems that evil still prevails and our own devices of temptation, deceit, discouragement trap us and it is hard to prevail against it.

There is a scene in one of the Superman movies, I own them all, where a form of Kryptonite has affected Superman in a way that instead of killing him it just made him very evil! All the people who looked up to him as a “savior” of sorts were very disappointed as they saw their hero drunk and disorderly and generally creating mayhem all over the world! He comes to a place where the good side, represented by Clark Kent, and the evil Superman come face to face, in a garbage dump, and fight. For a while it seems as if our hero is forever lost to us, but suddenly Clark rises from the ashes and wins the battle of good vs. evil and then goes and rights all the wrongs he did when he was his own evil counterpart, a triumph for our hero!

I remember seeing that long ago when I watched it for the first time, when my son was young, that scene struck a chord in me that made me want to cry out loud. I have faced many trials and a lot of them have come at me at the same time and from all different directions, like trying to get out of the ocean when waves are coming at you so fast you cannot stand up. At times the person you trust most in the world will turn against you and there you are lying on the floor kicked in the gut, and like Superman dying from the affects of the green kryptonite, you are waiting and hoping someone will come along to lift the load from your shoulders so that you can rise again to your former happier self.

Jeremiah 17:5 “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the LORD.” I heard my dad quote that scripture many times through the years so I already knew that the only help for me would be God, there was no one to help but Him. Jesus said, Matthew 11:29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” There is great comfort in knowing that! So let me ask you this, how do you get out of all your messes?

1Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your cares on Him for He cares for you.”

How can you lose when you have all that Word to back you up, it is a Living Word that actually works for you in your own life!

So while lying there waiting for help, in comes Jesus, the real Savior, He picks us up, dusts us off, sets us on our feet and puts us on the right path to travel! He raised the dead, healed the crippled, the blind, lepers, fed five thousand at one time and four thousand at another, and then He died and rose again so that He could claim me as His own, lift the kryptonite of sin from my chest and save my immortal soul! There isn’t one Superhero or Avenger that has any of those things on their résumé! He can handle all the problems in your life you just have to put your trust in Him.

So now you know the answer, Jesus, Lord over all, really is  “Jesus Christ, Superhero” the greatest One of all!

About harolene

Thank you for stopping by for a visit! If you read my thoughts you will see that I am sometimes serious, at other times sappy or funny, occasionally I am sad and sentimental, but I am always sincere! I am a single mother who raised two children, born ten years apart and different sexes so first it was bows and dolls, pretty dresses and boys! When my son was born it was rough and tumble games, baseball, soccer, wrestling and girls! I am known for my "smile" and for my default answer to any situation, "no problem", which was something I didn't realize I did until it was pointed out to me! I am a moon watcher and a star gazer. I am astounded and feel so small knowing that every creature that has ever walked the face of this earth has gazed upon that same beautiful orb that my eyes can behold on any night when the earth is not wearing her cloak of clouds. My parents have made me the person that I am. Their love, veracity in all areas of life, humor and passion for their work and each other have given me hope that my life can actually be a happy one! Chances are if you are reading this you already know all this but again, I appreciate your stopping by! While you're here hit the "Like" button for me and thanks for checking in!
