There are times when you have gone as far as you can go without help from above! Are you there yet? If I could look into your heart and see the problem I would fix it, but only God can do that. I talk to a lot of people who are having troubles and I pray for them and try to give as good advice as I have in me, however, I don’t feel adequate or wise enough and the best answer I can give is to say that I will “pray for solution“.
I don’t know if you remember my telling you how I came up with that particular prayer but I prayed during a time of utter desolation and great discouragement. As I prayed that day I felt stuck in mud about knee-high and spinning my wheels, not able to move when suddenly I just threw up my hands and asked God to give me a solution! Immediately God showed me exactly what to do and gave me a solution that I wouldn’t have even known to ask for!
When you are talking to someone about their problem it is hard to give advice since you are only hearing their side of the situation and not the whole, so the best way to pray for yourself or anyone else is simply to ask God for solution! It is saying to God “I trust your everlasting kindness and wisdom to do for me what is best, thank you.”
Carole King wrote a song that James Taylor sang, I may turn it on and listen right now, “When you’re down and troubled and you need a helping hand and nothing, no nothing is going right. Close your eyes and think of me and soon I will be there to brighten up even your darkest nights. You just call out my name, and you know wherever I am I’ll come running, to see you again. You’ve got a friend.” For us as Christians that friend is named in this old hymn, “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief’s to bear, what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.”
When you are little and feel lost, there is no more comforting feeling than finally seeing your parent’s face in the crowd. When someone in your family dies, you seek the comfort of your other relatives because they are the only ones who know what you are feeling and you are able to comfort each other.
Psalm 23:4 Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I’m not afraid when you walk at my side. Your trusty shepherd’s crook comforts and makes me feel secure. What could possibly be more comforting than knowing your battles will be fought while you are kept safe and secure? I love this verse: Isaiah 66:13 As a mother comforts her child, so I’ll comfort you. You will be comforted in Jerusalem.”
There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God! You may be experiencing heart aches, financial problems, relationship troubles and you just need some comfort as from a loving parent, take comfort because “you’ve got a Friend!”
